Yeah, not a fan of those chairs or the black tablecloths.

Those chairs are awful. In the second photo, that ceiling makeover is equally dreadful, and really doesn't fit with a hotel of this vintage. I cannot wait until they come to their senses and rip it out and do something different.

I have some critiques of the Savoy's current interior decorating, but one thing that I'm endlessly pleased with is that all the changes are reversible. Some of the new walls even stop short of meeting the ceiling to preserve the moldings.

Wow, those tables and chairs are awful, especially for a design-focused venue. Hopefully a temporary setup...

The booths are nice and the bar area has a great vibe. The food is some of the best in KC. I think it was wise to convert the dining room into gallery space.

Yeah everybody that is going there wants to experience the historic area of the savoy restaurant I think. Maybe as their food catches on they will need more tables but they new space wasn't working at all.

Re: OFFICIAL - 21c Museum Hotel KC (former Savoy Hotel)
So, they ripped out the restaurant space (which was kind of weird anyway) and essentially put all the restaurant seating in the existing bar space?
If I am interpreting the cryptic comments here correctly, that cannot be many tables. But at least the bar space preserves the old Savoy ambiance.

Wasn't the original restaurant only in the 'bar space' too? Or did it flow into that over space (now the gallery)??

The restaurant was indeed limited to the “bar” area originally

They did use that space for overflow. I was unhappily seated in that space one Thanksgiving.

It appears some construction work is happening at the 21c, but I cannot tell exactly what. There are some vehicles on site and a large dumpster.

The dumpster is in the lot, but it looks like the work is going on in the hotel based on a propped open door and not seeing any work in the lot.KCPowercat wrote: ↑Tue Apr 14, 2020 1:02 pm is this the surface lot next to them or look to be in the hotel itself?

Can confirm Savoy dining room is undergoing some sort of renovation, unclear what's going on with it, but wires hanging down and some panels missing.

The grey one. I'll try to get a better look on my next lap that direction.TheLastGentleman wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 1:34 pmThe room with the murals and woodwork, or the grey one next door they turned into more gallery space?

It's actually neither room that's being renovated, but instead the space between them which I guess was sealed off before now.smh wrote: ↑Thu Apr 23, 2020 3:25 pmThe grey one. This is the "grey room" complete with acoustic panels in the ceiling and ominous art.
This however, is the room being renovated, directly west of the grey room. To give some sense of direction, you can see the kitchen door in the background and what i think is the back of the frosted glass restaurant reception space.
