Almost everyone I know has moved on to other priorities. WSP needs a conservancy to properly care for it.

Rendering from a 2018 presentation on downtown office development. This project as proposed has been pitched by Vantrust for at least 1 year.

Maybe they finally got a tenant?

This is the worst case scenario. What a far cry from this drawing from years ago

That newer idea is not the worse case scenario. If covers up a parking lot, expands the park and provides new office space with a great view of downtown with no building torn down for parking

That is probably the most prime location in all of urban KCMO right now. It is begging for something mixed use, something that gives people a reason to visit Washington Sq Park. Even if you have to use incentives to make it happen, something incredible has to go there. This looks like something from the 1980's plopped in there. Seriously, that is one hell of a location walkalbe from Crown Center, Crossroads and Downtown across from Union Station, on the streetcar line and in one of very few potentially highly functional urban parks in downtown KC. It deserves something special.

I always thought that this would be a perfect location for a natural history museum and with the success of the Dinosaurs Alive exhibit at union station, that just confirmed what I was thinking. I know that there is one in OP but that's not the same. Tourists will not travel out there for the museum. I think that it would have incredible foot traffic and families would have a field day with that, the aquarium, crown center and legoland all within a short walking distance. I'm beyond disappointed with what they have planned for that lot.

Just please don't add another amphitheatre space/concert space.

Just double the size of the museum and it would work.

I found a good example that it's not the size that matters, it's how the space is used.

The time we went Prairiefire had space for ~5 areas in 42k sq ft.
Science City has space for ~35 different areas in 100k sq ft

An area/activity doesn't need to be big, it just needs to be there.

Don't know if this has already been posted somewhere else, but from VanTrust's site:
"Washington Square Park is a planned office development located in Kansas City, Missouri. The 5.51-acre site will be home to two office buildings, totaling 390,000 square feet. The west building will have 10 stories and 150,000 rentable square feet. The east building will have 8 stories and 240,000 rentable square feet. The parking ratio for both buildings is 4 cars / 1,000 SF for a total of 2,066 spaces in a structured parking garage. Anticipated incentives include sales tax exemption and property tax abatement. Anticipated groundbreaking is early 2020 with a 24-month design-build schedule with core/shell completion expected during the summer of 2022."
Sidebar now shows the 1 building at 280,000 SF

We're looking pretty much due north. This is the western building. Can't visualize where this building is to sit. Is it going to sit in a sea of parking connected to the park and street grid only by drives/sidewalks on causeways? That's sure what it looks like.

The rendering appears to be just to show potential tenants they're working on a downtown building with a view, not the actual building.

If you look at the skyline perspective Walnut is almost due north. There's a single straight line on the left side of the image pointing straight towards Town Pavilion. This makes the far right side Grand.

The cars give us a scale, it's about three spots wide per column. So that's ~25 feet give or take. So the building is approx 225 wide.

The space between walnut to Grand is about 250-275 feet so that sizing makes sense.

So if this is the western building, where does the eastern one go?

I was expecting these buildings to front onto the north side of the park. That would have provided a great amenity for the tenants. This looks nothing like that.
