Tore down a two story building directly on the streetcar line and replaced it with another two story building while giving incentives to move a company five blocks. Such a waste of a good spot that already had a building...and we had to pay for it.

It was a renovation, not a complete teardown.

And the previous building wasn't anything worth saving IMO

Yeah they just refaced it and added a story. I'd agree not a good use of incentives though. I didn't remember they got incentives

I think this is the incentives ordinance for the project (just Chapter 100 bonds?): http://cityclerk.kcmo.org/LiveWeb/Docum ... 2Faw%3D%3D

Eh, I'm just happy this will shift some additional activity into the downtown core.

Wedged right next to an Interstate and Highway, in a fairly unwelcoming stretch of area? Yeah. I like that the core is consolidating a little bit.

I quite like the way the new McCown Gordon HQ looms over Main Street here, and the transparency that the glass and exterior spaces add.

Wish we could get some bump outs and plantings around the Muse of the Missouri fountain and add seating/public space, a la the Janette Sadhik-Khan era Manhattan pedestrian updates. It's quite a pretty fountain and would be a nice little island in the middle of Main Street if there was any way to allow folks to access easily.
