It’s a vacant lot but I think this fits best here...does anyone know what’s happening in the small field across from 910 Penn (9th and Pennsylvania across from State Street). There has been surveying going on and now there’s a big truck that looks like it’s taking soil core samples or something. Seems like it is prepping for development

Looks like it's owned by DST?droopy wrote:It’s a vacant lot but I think this fits best here...does anyone know what’s happening in the small field across from 910 Penn (9th and Pennsylvania across from State Street). Many, many years ago when they were building offices on Broadway, DST said they were going to put something up on that lot that would change the residential scene downtown.

From the Cityscene article about the Crossroads Academy school. Not sure if it’s related, or are we thinking of two separate sites?[...] and ultimately build a gymnasium on a 36,000 square-foot site at the southwest corner of Ninth and Washington streets.

apparently Stanford's has had its liquor license suspended and is not going to get the consent it's supposed to get from neighbors.wahoowa wrote:something weird happened here overnight/this morning. shooting reported at 6am. but i think it closes around midnight? a ton of cops have been posted up outside from at least 9am through 1130 today.swid wrote:The turnover at Stables/Tiger Tail/KC's Garage continues...next up, it'll be Stanford's starting in September.

Excellent. Although there isn't a consent requirement downtown. Although, maybe there is once you've had your license suspended? Doubtful.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
wahoowa, I'm guessing you got the same email I did this morning.
In that email, it was mentioned that Regulated Industries will require consent from all property owners within 500 feet as a condition of reinstatement - I'd assume it's at their discretion when dealing with suspended licenses.

I think 500 feet was the new downtown distance that Jolie pushed for a few years ago...it's a longer distance in other parts of the city.

This is only the VERY RARE case where RI actually revokes a license.smh wrote:No kidding? That's good to know for the future.swid wrote:wahoowa, I'm guessing you got the same email I did this morning.

Did Stanford's get its consent? Sounds like they have a big show scheduled for Thursday.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
They've had signs up on the railing for the past week or so that say "Under New Management / Extensively Remodeled", so I don't know if that's a step in getting consent, they got their liquor license back while appealing, or something else.

Re: Downtown Buildings with Activity
Wasn't sure where to post this, but UMB is consolidating their campus and listing 906 and 910 Grand buildings for sale.
910 is primarily used for storage right now.
Both are under-utilized, gorgeous historic buildings which would be great residential/hotel/office.

I wonder how much of the original facade is intact on 906 under the covering.

This is the building on the SW corner of 9th & grand and the smaller building next door. Original facades are not covered up apart from the ground floor storefront of 910 grandEon Blue wrote:I wonder how much of the original facade is intact on 906 under the covering.
