And they couldn't pursue two locations?

All I hear from people with Shake Shack in their city is that it is overrated. The only people I've ever heard rave about it are people from other cities.

Not going to lie, I'm excited to try it, but I've heard it is definitely not worth standing in a line that wraps around the block for.

Yeah, just like [insert your favorite BBQ joint in KC].

The Plaza could use a couple more counter places and suppose this fits though a neighborhoody counter would be better. It's better than Larkburger, which we tried (opened S Plaza couple weeks ago) and weren't impressed with. Larkburger isn't as good as a typical juicy bar/grill burger, at least Shake Shack is in that territory and you don't have to tip a server.
The new Plaza owners need to go bold and bring in WP Flea Market burgers that's just a sidewalk window along Nichols turned into a pedestrian only stretch.

According to Shake Shack corporate offices, they have no current plans for our area. However, their email said to enjoy Shake Shack in St. Louis, Chicago or soon to open - Nashville.

^Is curious that the reddit source is pretty specific about Shake Shack going into Plaza Talbot's space. We shall see...

Any major chain is ultimately going to be overrated. Large chains don't make truly special food. Ever.bobbyhawks wrote:All I hear from people with Shake Shack in their city is that it is overrated. The only people I've ever heard rave about it are people from other cities.
Only a millennial would think otherwise.

Would've been nice to have a few years ago - even with the 'prestige' of Shake Shack, these restaurants are now in every neighborhood in every city it seems. Kinda surprised they didn't repurpose the old Chef Burger space in P&L back in the day.

A McD or even another Town topic would also do well in that location. We really need more late night/early morning options.

I think a nice sit down Mediterranean restaurant would be quite the grab for downtown. Nothing in KC filling that niche now and can be programmed towards big groups eating before going out or an event....

Pappasitos, or Taco Cabana if you want more casual TexMex. Local would be even better. Chuy's or On The Border and P&L is dead to me.StrangerThings wrote: I'm hoping County Road is very successful and entices some new interest. For me, #1 priority in regards to food both from a business perspective and a downtown resident perspective is a decent Mexican sit down location. However, I think a patio is essential for a Mexican location to really succeed. The current Dubliner space would be perfect for a nice Mexican joint, granted a full remodel would be needed.

How come no one ever mentions Chick-fil-a for downtown? Would be amazing and you could still put a high end burger place in another location.

A digression on Town Topic - why the 19th and Baltimore location isn't open evenings Thurs-Sat is beyond me, given that Up-Down generates an endless supply of buzzed, hungry twenty-somethings who wouldn't mind a burger before going home.ldai_phs wrote:A McD or even another Town topic would also do well in that location. Chick-Fil-A has some pretty stringent rules in regards to getting a franchise
