Kentucky 2017 Part 2

Post by Roanoker »

Nice place to sit or view.
Image

It has been my experience to see a goose in front of a line of babies followed by another parent. The latter is AWOL.
Image

More my speed.
Image

Same goose family further away, without dad.
Image

At first glance, this stuff on the water looked like scum. However, a closer look reveals duckweed.
Image

For the background, I used the flowers at the bottom and applied two filters.
Image

This rose appears to be standing out more because I selected the background and applied a lens blur.
Image

Here is the same stand shown above as a nice place to sit or view. And you can see the “scum” on the water.
Image

An iris reminds me of a poor man’s orchid.
Image

I took a lot of pictures of these geese. I like the babies.
Image

Everybody likes bridges.
Image

This flower appears to be made of paper, but it is real.

Yeah, well, I liked this flower. And trellis.
Image

I may have lain on the ground to get this shot.
Image

And then crawled closer.
Image

He must have been watching that silly woman crawling on the ground with her camera.
Image

Those bridges make walking on the paths more pleasurable.
Image

I think they charged $45 to use the zip line. Not for me, even if it were free.
Image

Looking straight down this time. Are these red leaves or flower petals? Who knows?
Image

I heard that the Amish folks helped to support the Creation Museum and the Ark Experience.
Image

This picture had a portrait orientation, but I turned it 90º so I could just crop it. Nice leaves.
Image

Purple puffs pretend to be flowers.
Image

It is now the next day (5/30/17), and these are the same flowers, in morning light. With a little Photoshop trickery.
Image

Another bridge, another smile.

Of course, the Creation Museum would be guarded by a dinosaur.
Image

Some bridges are sturdier than others.
Image

There were many “bouquets” like this one plopped all over. I selected around the flowers and lens-blurred the background.
Image

Giant leaves, tiny flowers.
Image

Just the flowers, in a Photoshopped glass ball.
Image

It’s always a challenge to display an image that must be rotated to retain the correct perspective.
Image

I’m glad the administration left broad fields to showcase the wild.
Image

Oddball flowers, to my mind.
Image

Isn’t this purple gorgeous?
Image

How many different flower styles can there be?
Image

Hanging in there.
Image

We may be seeing irrigation beginning or ending. Love the grass leading up to the yellow irises in the back.

I have a thing for grass.
Image

I never tire of the purple irises.
Image

Lavender isn’t bad, either.
Image

This plant wants to be a spider. The image was portrait-oriented. I plopped the smaller version on top and cut around hard edges.
Image

A simple crop was good enough this time. Nice trees and such.
Image

If this is a Japanese Red Leaf Maple, it is an expensive addition to any landscape. My son has one in his front yard. Pretty.
Image

Couldn’t have asked for a better, beautiful sky—and glorious, red leaves.
Image

Not sure if this silver thing is a flower or not. Maybe just leaves.
Image

Nice digs for the goldfish.
Image

I understand that these are Gaura flowers.
Image

Red leaves with gold leaf.
Image

You can’t beat wonderful trees against a clear, blue sky—and each other.

What a remarkable contrast in colors.
Image

Seems like fall.
Image

My son said this flower is a gaura. It’s prettier than its name.
Image

All kinds of trees here.
Image

These blossoms sort of look like caterpillars. They were on a big bush.
Image

Show off.
Image

I like the variations of light and dark as much as the pretty flowers.
Image

The original image was portrait-oriented. I placed it next to a larger portion of itself and cut away the hard edge.
Image

The original, portrait-oriented image is in the middle, with its own giant leaves nearly overwhelming it. I did some cutting.
Image

I guess some plants just grow straight out of the water.
Image

I remember this flower to be orange. However, my application of Photoshop Levels renders it more red…and purple.
Image

I’m reminded here of an enchanted forest.

Orange flowers were in abundance that day.
Image

These “flowers” resemble sparklers.
Image

What a beautiful little flower.
Image

This plant produces serious leaves.
Image

Another orange flower to admire.
Image

How opportune! It looks like a decorated Christmas tree.
Image

I find this bloom to be exotic.
Image

Here is an array of plants and flowers I usually shoot up close. In situ.
Image

Yet another orange one, backed up by a tree.
Image

Not to be ignored.
Image

Falls are always nice, unless you missed your last pit stop.
Image

Back side of the Creation Museum.

You may have to look for these falls.
Image

I learned the hard way as a child that you do not run your clasped fingers along one of these leaves. Unless you like the color red.
Image

Sweet, but not real.
Image

This may be the second time around. But the lens flares are nice.
Image

Falls are a good addition to an attractive garden.
Image

The “Christmas tree” from my last post was found on this giant bush. Or tree. Not sure which.
Image

Closeup of blooms with an abstracted background.
Image

Nothing Photoshopped here except for the 4:3 crop.
Image

You can see at least one blossom among the lily pads.
Image

You’ll probably see more of these baby geese pictures. I took many. Really cute.
Image

As I got closer to the flower to cut around it so as to lens-blur the background, I wondered why there were two, fine, straight lines. They turned out to be the antennae of that green bug. Each “line” is about four times his length!
Image

A picture of grass isn’t all that interesting without something a little extra. It still isn’t all that interesting.

Not the best display of these pretty flowers.
Image

Just another type of flower.
Image

An upside down boat doesn’t detract.
Image

I don’t like wires interfering with my photos, but this zip line was part of the experience.
Image

Red is always a good flower color.
Image

This bridge is actually functional.
Image

The focal point is overexposed. Oh, well.
Image

Looks like paper, but it is real.
Image

Portrait-oriented images are always a challenge.
Image

I thought the display sign was attractive.
Image

A floral arrangement on the inside.
Image

Another display sign I like.
