Zero landscaping, 1970's planter pots full of nothing but dirt, busted up sidewalks, no trees, etc. I rarely walk on grand because it's just not an inviting, walkable blvd. Perplexing the city hasn't tried to make it more pedestrian friendly.
blame the parks department, who spent $100K on planning only to discover said plan would cost an astronomical figure to implement. i guess you could also blame mariner kemper, who dangled private funds in front of them all only to withdraw the offer after getting frustrated with the lack of progress.

then there's the property owners, who haven't been very good stewards of their face to the boulevard...
Maybe they could have bought some more fake flags?

Lol. So true. =D>

One big project could really turn Grand around....can we get the streetcar to loop through Grand blvd Dave? It's worked wonders for the Main St corridor.

Yes, if you're trying to take in the skyline from two blocks away, some buildings will be out of view but with any distance the skyline will have a very nice flow. That's just me and my opinion. Personal taste will vary.

If these buildings were in the 34+ floor range, it would a very serious issue and indeed a "wall".
So three and four light will be much shorter? That's disappointing news..

I think if the facades of this building were reversed, with the current north side moved to the south, there would be less complaint about the appearance.

Is Cordish looking to get incentives for three light?

I don't think so. I remember when 2 light was approved that someone said that was the last pre-approved incentive. Cordish is still "owed" parking if/when they redevelop the midland offices. So I guess they could swap out that guarantee for something related to 3 light, but otherwise I think they are tapped out on guarantees.

I don't see them capping the south loop and eliminating the north one in the same time frame unless Cordish picks up the tab.

With Cordish in on the Loews hotel....it's more plausible.

I could see Cordish somehow weaving the capping of the loop construction into a TIF request for three light. It would certainly make approval of the TIF more palatable.
