The last set of details made public before construction began still called for just 896 square feet of retail space at the corner, and none elsewhere. The frontage on 20th Street east of where the windows are already installed in that photo is a garage, not retail. As Critical_Mass's juxtoposition of photo and rendering make very clear, it is being built exactly to plan.

The corner retail space might be big enough to put another juice stand in, but I still predict it will be used to sell toothbrushes to forgetful guests.
Ludicrous! Hilton provides free toothbrushes.

There is no stucco on the building, actually. It is a half-inch thick brick veneer that is snapped on, then they come back later and fill in the grout. It's a cheaper alternative to using real bricks, though not as bottom-barrel as the stucco "bricks" on the upper levels of the new Courtyard Marriott / Residence Inn

It's turning out much better than the initial design, which was terrible. But missed opportunity to go much taller with more units as a hotel along a free streetcar line doesn't need a lot of parking.

It's not a beautiful building by any stretch of the imagination but I am happy they do appear to be trying to respect the urban setting by avoiding setbacks and not putting blank walls at street level. It's not what they would build along College Blvd and I give them credit for recognizing the difference.

Don't they need that in order to sell the stuff stocked in the mini-fridge?

Surprised the application is this late in process.

unclear. this is only the second (modern) hotel in the crossroads. the new marriott was an "Application for Full Liquor by the Drink with Sunday + Hotel Convention 3AM License with Live Music, DJ and Dance Hall Floor".
