good description. Not that I mind it not trying to "blend in" with the original building.FangKC wrote:It looks like an embassy.

Where'd you see this photo? I can't recall, is part of this structure a parking garage? If so, I'm curious where they propose an entrance to go. Also, would like to see a ground floor retail stall of course.Critical_Mass wrote:First look at the Ambassador addition:

Supposedly not any structured parking.

I really hope that's a sacrificial design or the black and white and angle takes a cool front and makes it look bad.

Looks a little better in color. I'm still not too fond of the design but it's better than a gated parking lot.

I dunno, I kind of like this giant, claustrophobic cardboard box with 99.9 percent of its light coming from an array of windows on one side of the cube. It has a surreal, dreamy quality to it. It's an oversized human kennel, which works with the hotel theme. Just pick me up, put me in the jet, land me in my rented bed for the night and I'll be ready to go for a day of playing in the downtown dog park.

Put me on team like it....outside of what I've heard about the ground level.

I like it to. Good contrast to the historical buildings. Curious how the interior rooms get any natural light though. Maybe they don't. Would like to see a floor plate.

70 rooms, 7 floors. It's 10 rooms per floor.
Based on the windows, looks like there's five rooms on each side of a floor facing east and west.
It's clearly a 100% how to not spend money plan

Re: Ambassador Hotel (1111 Grand)
Replacing a surface parking lot with parking and a building on top....seems like a win.

Minimalism can work at times but there's such a thin line for pulling it off or looking cheap, mostly it ends out looking cheap.
Looks like a cinder block.

I kinda like it, but only ironically. It looks like an old computer monitor.
