I love how they are adding all these multi-tenant buildings - but hardly anything is moving into the smaller interior stores spaces (behind and next to JC Penney and Van Maur). Forget about foot traffic ever happening at those places.mgsports wrote:http://apps.opkansas.org/Doing-Business ... 2013-00122 Other Multi Tenet Retail Building.

Re: Corbin Park
Was out here over the holiday's to see REI. The area is finally starting to acquire a bit of critical mass, albeit low density, parking lot-surrounded typical suburban crap. The REI store is OK and has some good deals but it's probably the smallest and most poorly stocked of all the REI stores I've been to. I kind of feel for Backwoods which undoubtedly be overwhelmed by REI's presence - but it was their choice to head out to the burbs.
What's the building with the bizarre architecture going in just east of Corbin Park and the REI with the oddly shaped colorful windows? Looked like some kind of church but wasn't sure. Odd that the only thing even trying architecturally in this area would be a church.

Re: Corbin Park
That would be PrairieFire, and the building is the museum/movie theater complex. REI is part of the same development - Corbin Park is actually across the street. You can read about PrairieFire here:Highlander wrote:Was out here over the holiday's to see REI. I thought the same thing...I was pretty disappointed in that store as I am a big fan of theirs.Highlander wrote:The REI store is OK and has some good deals but it's probably the smallest and most poorly stocked of all the REI stores I've been to.

GNC between Sears Appliance Showroom and Mens Wearhouse so maybe the one in Antioch Shops will stay open.
Dress Barn and Dress Barn Women have closed in Regency Park maybe because of Corbin Park location opening up.

Re: Corbin Park
It still amazes me that all these outlying buildings are being constructed while the inner part of the development - the part adjacent to JC Penney and Von Maur - seems to have plenty of empty store space. Corbin Park had the potential to be something more than a glorified strip center, but that's what it's turning into. Big parking lots separating all these retail buildings and not many enhancements (landscaping, "water features") whatsoever - beyond the odd fountain structure on the corner of Metcalf and 135th (which no one will ever see up close). Not surprisingly, it doesn't seem to be a very walkable environment.mgsports wrote:http://opdocs.opkansas.org/City%20Docs/ ... g-maps.pdf Zales and Spin Pizza

Corbin Park update
Corner Bakery Cafe is planning a March 17th opening in Corbin Park, 6721 W. 135th St., Overland Park.
The local franchisee also has a location in Leawood's Camelot Court.
Breakfast runs all day and includes scramblers like the Anaheim (scrambled eggs with crisp Applewood smoked bacon, tomatoes, green onions, cheddar cheese and avocado), along with scrambled egg sandwiches, panini, oatmeal, and fresh berry and yogurt parfaits. Lunch and dinner items include specialty sandwiches, salads and soups.
Corner Bakery Cafe will share the new building with a mattress store.
What’s happened to the Taco Bell at 135th and Quivira? There one day, gone the next.
Taco Bell Corp. issued a statement saying the closing of the Overland Park restaurant was a “business decision” made by its franchisee. Taco Bell operates three other restaurants in the area.
