New Hosting
I took it upon myself to move the forum from a shared hosting site with 143 other users on the same server, to this cloud server that I built myself, with only the forum on it. The DNS monsters are still making the rounds, but preliminary results have been outstanding, as performance is concerned.

Also, please say if the site seems a little snappier to you now.

Extremely early returns are that things are very very quick moving from page to page for me.

Re: New Hosting
Much more responsive than ever. I change my signature every morning, and I definitely observed enhanced speed today. Thank you. I mean, really. When an administrator does a great job, nobody notices, because everything works properly. Only when even slight difficulty arises do people become aware of the administrator. Then it is "How come this isn't working right?" Or "This sucks!"
Please regard any non-response as a supreme compliment. That's just the way it is.

Re: New Hosting
It would seem that many ISPs are still flagging on the DNS update. I for one had to switch my DNS servers away from Time Warner's to Google's for the site to properly resolve. I'm looking into the problem, but the result is that right now, a great number of people, especially in KC, can't see the forum.

Thank you very much for your kind words. Now let's get the others over here!

Okay!
forum.kcrag.com is no more! Requests to it will forward to kcrag.com, which wasn't being used at all before. A new day, a new URL.

Re: New Hosting
Nice work! My DNS servers must have picked up the change right away because...
- --I never noticed any downtime
- --I definitely noticed a boost in performance
- --I was wondering for several hours where everyone else was.

Nice work. Seems much faster to me. Hopefully this migration will have the side-benefit of eliminating some of the "ono I double-posted" issues that a few folks were having.

Re: New Hosting
All internal links will send you back to the dead forum.kcrag site. For example, this post:
http://kcrag.com/viewtopic.php?f=15&t=18881
Is now littered with dead links. I don't suppose there is a way to fix this short of fixing every link by hand by Korean factory workers?

Re: New Hosting
There should be a way to fix it in the htaccess file.

Re: New Hosting
This was supposed to be fixed, bahua and I (mostly bahua with me offering mostly useless commentary from the peanut gallery) had it working. Not sure what happened. Looks like bahua might have dorked the zone file or something. I'll ask in case he doesn't see this for a while.

Not sure what you're seeing. The links in your link work fine for me.

Re: New Hosting
Right. If you make a link now, it works fine. If you click on a link made prior to the new hosting, it will direct you to:pash wrote:They don't work for me. (To be clear, the link KCMax posted above works, but if you follow that link, all of the links in that thread are broken, pointing to forum.kcrang.com.)
