I don't follow Stretch on twitter as I think he's a douche but looks like he has been on the "toy train" thing for awhile

Doesn't really bother me that Stretch opposes this. People gotta do what they think is best. I think he's wrong, but he's entitled to his opinion.

Agreed, everybody has an opinion....but isn't this a bit beyond just an opinion? This will cost the city more money, has already been in court, and is being raised at the 11th hour.mean wrote:Doesn't really bother me that Stretch opposes this. An opinion is more along the lines of "I'm not going to Grinders anymore" vs. "I want the city to kick out Grinders due to their stance on the streetcar"

Bingo. There also seems to be some consensus around "This is a dumb business decision for Jeff".KCPowercat wrote: An opinion is more along the lines of "I'm not going to Grinders anymore" vs. "I want the city to kick out Grinders due to their stance on the streetcar"

Re: KCMO Downtown Streetcar
You gotta fight for what you think is right. Even if you're wrong. Even if you're going to piss people off. I think it's kind of admirable in a way, actually, insofar as I wouldn't have the cojones to make that call and potentially alienate my regulars. I probably won't patronize Grinders until this is over, don't want my money to help fund the legal battle, but I hold no grudges. I'll happily go back after they lose.

Definitely fight for what you think is right....but the time to fight has come and gone to be effective, this just seems like he is trying to be a PITA....but Stretch is all about publicity, so there is that.

Won't be difficult for me to avoid Grinders. Lots of good options out there.
I called in a complaint about Sue Burke's filter joint blocking traffic with a truck double-parked and loading air filters a few weeks ago for good measure as well.

Not that I know of. But it (blocking of road) happens often and is annoying even if it wasn't sue.KCPowercat wrote:Anything happen?KCtonic wrote:Won't be difficult for me to avoid Grinders. Lots of good options out there.

I'm humored she has a back alley that a truck could sit in for hours and she still blocks traffic. Though I think that of about any big truck downtown doing the same. Luckily the road is three lanes wide outside where I work.

tsk, tsk...Plaintiff Rumaner also routinely purchases goods and services from businesses
and merchants located within the boundaries of the 1200 Main/South Loop Transportation
Development District, the boundaries of which are coterminous with an area commonly known

I that's what they're claiming as standing: that they are subject to the tax on their properties and if they go shopping in the P&L taxing district.DaveKCMO wrote:tsk, tsk...Plaintiff Rumaner also routinely purchases goods and services from businesses

Actions have repercussions. He used to be a harmless ego-maniac goofball, now he's something else.mean wrote:Doesn't really bother me that Stretch opposes this. People gotta do what they think is best. I think he's wrong, but he's entitled to his opinion.
That post about his twitter feed is interesting. He probably assumed everyone knew his stance on this and either no one cared or at the very least it wouldn't damage his bottom line.
