Yeah, you'd think if there was real progress, there would be status updates or something on their site.

Fox 4 did a story this AM. 12 stations. 60 bucks a year membership. Up and running prior to all star game. Hopefully much sooner.

Not bad at all. I just bought a bike, but I think I may still do this. One question for those who have used it in other cities... Are there certain stations where it is difficult to find a bike because of a lot of one way trips? Is there some sort of service that moves bikes based on destination, and how frequently will they actually do this?

Heard today from a resident of the metropolitan that plans are in place to put a staking in that neighborhood.

Looks like the launch is pushed back to July. Pretty disappointing given how early they announced this project, got a sponsor, and have kept talking about June launch.....missing a lot of bike riding season. I could see many people not wanting to pay for a full season pass if it's only available 1/2 a season.

Apparently July is the month to rollout bike rental services...

http://arstechnica.com/business/2012/05 ... expensive/

More on NYC's prices.. a bit high but probably to keep use to a minimum...
And like London's scheme, price structure is based very closely on the Parisian Vélib'. Access to the Citi Bikes comes courtesy of a 24-hour, one-day, or one-year subscription. This theoretically grants free access to users provided they keep journeys under 30 minutes. Above that, additional fees are payable. As in London and Paris these fees climb steeply for longer trips in an attempt to encourage short hops and thus higher cycle turnover and availability. Though a sub-30 minute trip is free, a journey of between 90 and 120 minutes will cost $25, and every half-hour after the two-hour mark costs $12.
I wonder if you could ride for 30 min to another bike station and then grab another for 30 min with no charge.

It's my impression that they mostly wish to keep people from holding onto the bikes. If you had an annual pass, and there weren't such limitations, then many folks would just keep the bike all day. So, I would think leapfrogging from bike to bike is totally acceptable as they seem more concerned with turning the bike in when it is no longer needed than with actually having the bike for an hour if you are using it the whole time.

The link is down. Does anyone know if this is just a glitch, or have they reached capacity? A few friends of mine and I are interested but cannot register.

Wrenching: Y'all be turning screws and making the first pass at assembly. This is for those who can do minor bicycle repairs, or know how to use basic household tools.

Map and rates are up...

Only a few disappointments. would have like to see a station on the westside. Also bummer for tourists not having just an hourly rental. Lastly I thought they should have given a slight cheaper annual pass this year given the shortened biking season.

12 stations, a good start. Was looking at Chicago and Houston and they only have a few stations to start, though Chicago has other rental services. Hopefully others will sponsor stations for their own area, like Hospital Hill. DST could sponsor for their buildings, Hallmark for theirs, etc.

Here's the app for phone, which should start working when launched in KC...

Agreed. I would have combined the Garment District and Quality Hill locations into one and put a stand in the Westside. Good start, though, and I hope it can expand beyond just these.

Hospital Hill/Longfellow area too. Would like to see the hospitals get together and sponsor one up there. And maybe Blvd Brewing could sponsor one on W Side. Once it gets going, more business will see how it works and some may step up and sponsor more stations.

Anyone have a specific launch date? Am ready to get annual pass.
