Anyone know what was going on downtown last night?

While the bars were dead, several restaurants that allow minors were packed.  Some places (Chipotle, Chefburger, the KFC in Town Pavilion) had lines out the door.    Chipotle's line stretched out to the street and around the corner.  Most of the people seemed to be teenagers.  During the space of about 1 minute, three different groups of people asked me for directions to three completely different places.    There was nothing at the Sprint Center and I don't think anything was at the Midland.  Anyone know what it was?

Christian youth conference at Bartle.  I believe it's there every year between Christmas and New Years.

Hey - at least they're spending money.  Much like with the Catholic convention, there are people from all over the world staying in downtown KC this week.  I'll gladly take conventions this big any day!

If I remember right they usually don't leave until Jan 1, though today's officially the last day of the convention.

Just bumping this in case anyone else wonders why the lunch hour was so chaotic today.    It's that time of the year again!

Cosentino's had cafeteria tables set up in most of the aisles full of lunching teens.

Lots of kids were trying to get into Mema's but it was closed.  (???)

Some guy was trying to sell directions to restaurants but it looked like the Bees ran him off.

Thank you! I was wondering why Subway on Broadway had such a crazy line today. I expected it to be slower b/c of people taking time off work between Christmas and New Year's so was really surprised!

This is a good time of year for them to be in downtown KC.  Otherwise, it would be a slower week for downtown businesses. 

I'm surprised that this convention is as large as it is and it seems to keep getting larger.
