This great old garage is almost completely torn down now. The only other remaining art deco parking garage is slated to be torn down for the P & L District(the one on Main with Time to Read on the ground floor). The only other art deco garage I recall was the one behind the Empire, and it was only razed within the past few years. By the way I got a large octagonal piece of terra cotta ornament from the Proff Bldng garage. Some guy on Troost for 150. Took 3 to move the thing. I put it on a pedestal in the backyard with a spot hitting from below. Looks like something from Sky Captain!

I believe this is the national garage...one of the biggest eyesores in the city. Glad to see it going down.
Next up is that shopper's parkade.

It was only an eye soar to those who don't appreciate beautiful architecture. yes, it was in bad repair, but something could have been done. Here in DC (where i go to college) they save the facade to historic buildings and build new developments within those walls. This is costly, but well worth it. I'm afraid KC's downtown will look too "late 2000's" to people in the 2020's. We need to have some modern buildings, but lets keep some old facades and use some post-modern architecture too.

Too Lazy! The burn marks could have been power washed...(the whole think could have used it)...and the first floor just needed to have the ply wood removed and store fronts refurbished

BTW, what are you doing in DC, didn't you already graduate once??
Yeah I see, it could have been rehabbed....I'm just glad to see something get done.
