Segway/scooter rentals in the core...

Post by trailerkid »

California, Utah www.MagicScooter.com and Florida offer Segway rental locations. I was thinking having rental scooters or Segways would be an awesome way of connecting many of KC's attractions without light rail or BRT. Someone could rent a Segway across the street from their downtown hotel and ride it to the Plaza, 18th and Vine, Crown Center, River Market, etc. Or a hotel could even offer courtesy Segways you could use for an hour or two.

They better patch up the sidewalks first!

I finally divorced beer and proposed to whiskey, but I occassionally cheat with fine wine.

Anyone notice the new Segway store on the plaza? It snuck in there kind of quietly. To me that's a bigger deal than the apple store. Maybe they will rent them. BTW, I saw a guy on a Segway tonight at First Friday that seemed to navigate the galleries with little trouble...but also heard a story about a Segway being denied in Arrowhead Stadium because of it being classified as a motorized vehicle.

I wish KC would outlaw them like SF had the sense to do.

I received my FOTZ newsletter last week and you can rent segways at the zoo now.
Suburban Sprawl - Cut down all of the trees and name the streets after them.

outlaw them? why?

the tourist DRIVERS are bad enough, I don't need them running their scooters against reds in intersections :)

Not a bad idea but I'd rather just get the trolleys running again first.

We need it all...diverse transit options to link all of our attractions.
