http://www.kansascity.com/2010/03/11/18 ... evamp.htmlAfter four years, The Legends at Village West is repositioning itself, bringing in national and international experts to transform the Kansas City, Kan., “lifestyle center” into a destination outlet center called Legends Outlets Kansas City.

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
I thought it was already a destination outlet center. Shows how much I know.
Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
They swear it is going to be similar to Desert Hills Premium Outlet in Palm Springs, if so it will go over well.
If not...............
If not...............
Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
I've only been shopping at the Legends a hand full of times. I really thought it already was established as an outlet mall also!
I hope it wouldn't turn into another Great Mall of the Great Plains, but I think the difference here is timing. People are becoming more tuned into their spending habits, whether or not they have had a lot of set backs during this recession. If they could score some higher end outlet stores, a new outlet mall might just be a better fit for the area and the metro then what it is currently.

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
it has always been an outlet but the legends finally decided to namee it as such. I'm sure they weren't going for that angle when the originally named it but that was the tenants they could get signed.
glad they are finally marketing it as such.

Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
I think the difference is Legends will discontinue stores like Finish Line, Buckle et. al and go after "aspirational" outlets like Coach, Michael Kors, J Crew, Burberry, Bose, etc. This is a better strategy and actually makes the place unique. If the skeleton of the shopping center's commons had been larger with fewer big boxes and nonessential restaurants; they could've housed the "aspirational" outlets in addition to your Forever 21s, Claire's.KSJayhawk wrote: I've only been shopping at the Legends a hand full of times. No. I'm hope I'm not wrong here, but I think Legends has the ingredients to be successful. I'm thinking they're going to announce some bigger names for outlet stores in the coming weeks. If there's going to be retail stores in the development with Schlitterbahn, it's probably best that the Legends is distinguished as the outlet center.scooterj wrote: Legends to become the next Great Mall of the Great Plains?

That was what I was thinking. If schliterbaughn moves forward with their River Walk then I think that is were full price retail stores will choose to locate or perhaps relocate. So the strategy makes since.Stockton wrote: No. I'm hope I'm not wrong here, but I think Legends has the ingredients to be successful. I disagree that to make this strategy work they need to rename The Legends as "Legends Outlets". Just seems unnecessary and silly considering the center is a mix of outlets and regular retail stores as well as tons of restaraunts and entertainment venues.
Is Standford's Comedy Club now Stanfords Commedy outlet? Is Dave and Busters now Dave and Busters Outlet? Is Ganite City Brewery now an "outlet"?
People know there are outlets there with out it being called Legends Outlets. That would be like the Mills developments calling themselves St Louis Mills Outlets or something. Just sounds ridiculous.

LOL keep fighting it. We've told you for years on here what the Legends is and you didn't accept it...must burn that they are even naming it "outlets" now kinda blowing your argument out of the water. This is a good move for them...they no longer are trying to be something they are not.justin8216 wrote: That was what I was thinking. Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
exhibit A: the general consensus reaction to this deal was "it wasn't already?". This doesn't change the perception of Legends one bit for me, as long as it doesn't turn trashy there's no reason an outlet center still can't be a positive force for WyCo and the area in general.KCPowercat wrote: LOL keep fighting it. Regardless how you spell it, it's now official that Schlitterbahn is a fraud. Worlds of Fun is hiring more than 2,000 seasonal workers this spring/summer.That was what I was thinking. If schliterbaughn moves forward with their River Walk then I think that is were full price retail stores will choose to locate or perhaps relocate. So the strategy makes since.
Schlitterbahn is hiring 300.
The Hollywood Casino will have more bearing on the Legends Outlet Shopping Center than the water park.
You can put that in the bank.
Indecision is the root of evil.
Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
Not a real impressive list. I like Columbia the best out of those...

More like the state government in Topeka is a fraud - they are the ones who haven't released the STAR bonds they promissed to build it out.OPIchabod wrote: Regardless how you spell it, it's now official that Schlitterbahn is a fraud.

It does seem like they are really dragging their feet on the whole thing. One assumes they are waiting for the economy to turn around, which is an excuse that can be used forever.OPIchabod wrote: Regardless how you spell it, it's now official that Schlitterbahn is a fraud. Re: OFFICIAL: The Legends at Village West
They have no choice - the state of KS still hasn't forked over the half billion in bond money they pledged for its construction. The state's credit rating isn't good enough to float the bonds. Given all of that, its rather remarkable that they were able to even open anything - would have been pretty easy for that whole project to have completely disappeared like most every other development these days.mistervinix wrote: It does seem like they are really dragging their feet on the whole thing.
