Polsinelli Shughart & J.P. Morgan

Post by KC-wildcat »

"[Polsinelli Shughart], which completed a big merger at the beginning of the year, is seeking 195,000 square feet in the urban heart of Kansas City.  The new space being sought would house about 500 Kansas City employees, including 230 attorneys. A 50-attorney office in Johnson County would not be affected.  The firm has limited its search to the Plaza (West Edge) area and downtown

"The only other big client looking for a new home in the Kansas City area right now is J.P. Morgan Retirement Plan Services, which is seeking 200,000 square feet for its 800 employees. That company has narrowed its choices to three locations ? one downtown and two in Johnson County ? and is close to a decision."

Ok KC civic leaders and the mayor... here's your chance to show your true worth.  Work your asses off to get both of these and provide a huge boon to the downtown core!!!  :P

Just to be clear, these would just be taking businesses already in KC and moving them elsewhere in KC. Both Polsinelli/Shughart and JP Morgan are already on the Plaza. They're just expanding.

Don't think that's going to be a problem. Or do you mean not move to JOCO?

JPM is at 9300 Ward Parkway, not the plaza.

I had no idea that Morgan had that kind of footprint here.  What kind of operations are all those folks in?

I think this is Morgan unit is the successor of their joint venture with American Century.  A few years ago Morgan bought out AmCen and moved the people to Ward Parkway.

Polisnelli is on the Plaza.  Shughart is Downtown.  JP Morgan is in Overland Park.

We're talking about 400,000 sq. ft. office space and 1,300 employees.  Granted, the net gain DT would be reduced by the fact that Shughart is already here.  Nonetheless, these two projects be very impactful.  I'm not sure what our leadership is doing to attract these tenants downtown.  I am sure, JoCo is working very hard, though.

JP Morgan Retirement Services is at 94th and Ward Parkway.  The article mentioned in this thread confirms that.  Perhaps you are confusing them with another division JP Morgan?

The metropolitan vacancy rate for premium office space is 17.7 percent, with downtown at 19.4 percent and the Plaza at 18.4 percent, according to Colliers Turley Martin Tucker.
How does that compare to past years? Anyone know?

Whether JP Morgan is in OP wasn't the point of the thread.
