That makes my stomach turn thinking about him and his "20 years of experience".....at least square toe (opps....Squitiro) won't be there.

Nothing I love more than to watch 30 minutes of a FOX News show.&&& Funk was on for approximately 20-30 seconds that I saw and was easily the most boring and forgettable segment. There must have been a longer interview elsewhere, but I didn't care to search for it. Perhaps the person who wrote the blurb mixed up central and eastern time.

Its been kind of quite on the Funky Front. The Funk and Square Toe laying low? Has there been any Gloria sightings at CH?

Funkhouser's lackluster fund-raising effort
Kansas City Mayor Mark Funkhouser's latest campaign disclosure report, filed this week, shows he's raised $12,000 in the most recent quarter and has $3,241 on hand.
Highlights of the report: He received $10,000 from Julia Irene Kauffman in July and $1,000 from the Kutak Rock law firm in August. He's also paid down his own $2,000 debt to the campaign by $1,000.

The amount of money raised is probably typical for the election to be 18 months away. So the adjective "lackluster" may not fit.
I may be right. I may be wrong. But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

I actually found that I like this guy "Stretch", i believe it is ,that Funk selected for the TIF finance committe.. He took alot of criticism from the powers that be for this selection but after seeing an interview on KCPT with Stretch and Nick Haines, i felt very comfortable with the selection. this guy knows what cities are about and mentioned what Pittsburgh and Cincy and Portland were up to . Just thought i would give a nod (my 1st) to the FUnk on this one!

Saw Funk and Glo at a table outside at Latteland on the Plaza recently. Interesting, while I was there not one person acknowledged him. I've seen MKB out before and it was always a constant meet and greet with people coming up to her. His unpopularity has got to be unmatched for a mayor.

what are people supposed to say to him? 100% serious question.Downtowner wrote: Saw Funk and Glo at a table outside at Latteland on the Plaza recently. Is that a sexual reference to something Gloria said in the mayor's office?omenapt wrote: Oh i dont know.. "How's it hangin'"?
Funkhouser is not an approachable-looking person. He looks like Father Time sans the beard and Gloria looks like a raging bitch that said many derogatory things about the city and everyone that lives in it. They have also cost the city a lot of money because their shenanigans.

Compared to what MKB give away in "questionable" economic incentives it is pennies on the dollar.trailerkid wrote: They have also cost the city a lot of money because their shenanigans.

So for you the ends justifies the means. Or to paraphase, it doesn't matter how much it cost as long as it was redeveloped. Then MKB should be critized for not giving enough of the store away in order to have more development that what occurred.

and the billions funneled into the urban core in the last 10 years are not even a drop in the bucket compared to the billions and billions of local and federal dollars spent subsidizing sprawl in this metro area and dismantling the city over the last 60 years.aknowledgeableperson wrote: Compared to what MKB give away in "questionable" economic incentives it is pennies on the dollar.

Just approach him and say "Hi Mayor!" Most of the time he says hello back and that's it. He's still useless but he can say hello back.

Re: Kansas City Officially Has A New Mayor - Mark Funkhouser
this is pretty hilarious.
a lady from LA is blown away by KC as this was her first trip here for her husband's gallery opening. she tells Funkhouser how beautiful she thinks it is and how he needs to do more PR for it to let everyone know.
Funk and Gloria just stand there, expressionless. they both have no clue how to respond.
maybe our next mayor should actually like the city before he/she's elected.
