Fairway Russell Stover Candies - former BP Station
Finally out of business and it looks like they're tearing out the gas tanks. Kinda surprising as this is a high visibility gas station along SM Parkway, and the nearest gas station is in Mission or Westport. And isn't it prohibitively expensive to convert a gas station into something else?
Anyone have the scoop on what they plan to do with this lot?

i would guarantee that it's more retail given fairway's limited retail scene, but i have nothing to back that up.KCMax wrote: Finally out of business and it looks like they're tearing out the gas tanks. It won't be a Starbucks, as rumored.

“It will be something that will be great for the neighborhood and something everyone will like and enjoy,” said Shane Glazer of MSG Investments, Prairie Village, owner of the gas station site at 2814 Shawnee Mission Parkway.

I'd kill for a latteland there. Or, better yet, a Filling Station like in Union Hill.

Einstein Brothers is pretty close. Would probably be overkill.

An old gas station was converted into a bbq joint in Lee's Summit 10 or so years ago...It's fantastic by the way, and it would be closer to Waldo for me I don't whore many things out, but I love this place a crap-ton. They don't have a website but here is a review.

I live a block a way from this location. I think its going to be a latteland b/c I know they wanted to move into the now new bank across the street about a year ago. It's a perfect location for a coffee house with KUMed accross Belinder. Einstein's gets a ton of buisness and can afford to lose a few coffee drinkers. A drive thru would be key since parking is already a problem.
If its not a latteland then I hope it becomes a two story Irish pub with boddingtons on tap so Ill never have to drive to a bar again

How about another Gas Station? Blimipes? Church's Chicken? Panda Express? Food Court? Hot Dod/Hamburger Joint? Custard Place? Car Wash? Panera or Altanta Bread? Pizza Hunt Express? Vintagestock? Blockbuster? Aldi?

Yeah, an Aldi or a food court could really fit in there.

Hot Dod or Pizza Hunt would be my vote.mgsports wrote: How about another Gas Station? Blimipes? Church's Chicken? Panda Express? Food Court? Hot Dod/Hamburger Joint? Custard Place? Car Wash? Panera or Altanta Bread? Pizza Hunt Express? Vintagestock? Blockbuster? Aldi?

forgot to add the && if that is really needed
Re: Fairway BP Station
I would actualy be fine with another gas station -- particularly if it were full service. But I think a coffee shop would be a great fit for that little shopping area. Or a Pizza 51-type place. Something simple, but that adds a sense of community to the Fairway Shops. The only downside is I'm not sure how pleasant it would be to drink a latte outside with the constant traffic on SMParkway whizzing by.
