I'm coming down with some kind of flu crud, and think it best that I not show up and make other people sick.  :(

On the up side:

My husband and I cast our vote for change first thing this morning, and appeared to be surrounded by others casting their vote in the same direction- hurrah!

I see at least one other forum nerd with a laptop open. Rollcall! Bahua and I are sitting at the second table inside the door along the west wall if you want to say hi.

Haha.  I was pondering bringing my laptop too.  Myself and LukusPukus plan to stop by eventually.

They showed it on the news. Free for anyone that wants to come. Looks like a decent crowd.

Very awesome to see the crowds at Times Square in NYC and Grant Park in Chicago.

It was freakin' packed.  We went to the Bulldog eventually so we could sit down.  Everyone there was just as excited with the results.

It WAS packed, and as soon as we got there and tried to find a spot to squeeze into, I got an earful from a few bitchy women who felt I was in their way regardless of what nook/cranny I tried to fit myself into.  So that got old really fast, and we left and got a few beers elsewhere, and happened to be walking through the KC Live courtyard when the news noted that the watch party at the Midland was free and open to the public. So we went there, and it was pretty darned amazing.  Emanuel Cleaver came in and gave a pretty kickass address after the election was called for Obama, and we all watched Obama's address and danced to Stevie Wonder and such.  Good times!  Really mixed crowd, and big, and tons of campaign workers and volunteers were there, so there was a great vibe.

yeah, we got by too late as well, way packed, but did love the big whoop when they called Ohio, reverberated across the whole block!  Wish we had  gone in the Midland, thought it was some sort of private party, they had folks checking the entrance, not sure if it was IDs or frisking?, anyway would have loved to dance to some Stevie.

No, we got in at about 8:00, before the main floor got crowded. All you did was walk up to the table at the door and ask for a free ticket. The reason we knew it was free and open to the public was because the local affiliate broadcasting in front of it mentioned it on the news while we were debating where to go when Flying Saucer ceased to really be a comfortable option. Right place, right time.  But it was open to all at least that early.

interesting. they could have easily filled all of downtown's venues with the number of people who had interest in watching this thing together. lesson learned for 2012...

i think the best lesson learned is to have ideas and strategies for making them work and if you organize them, they will come. basically work smarter and don't underestimate your opponent and what he's is willing to do to win.
