So is there a WANT/NEED for a killer good B-FAST place in the X-RDS that can make one drool?

I would think it would be pretty successful if done well. Not a lot of competition in the area for weekend/breakfast. The Brick's B&G bar is pretty tasty - as is their full breakfast menu.

Best biscuits and sausage gravy I've had in the KC area was at Wheatfield's in Lawrence.

I liked The Brick's because they had three varieties - serve yourself. Just a different kind of experience. Not the best I've ever had, but well worth trying.

I'm a "brick"fast fan.  Jackie the cook, does a really fine job.  Never greasy, great breads, spuds, always some fruit and a mini cinnamon roll thrown in for balance.  Also the $1 bloody marys (make mine spicy, please) on Saturdays are the deal.

Ate at Lydia's yesterday, brunch was pretty good. But the bloody mary's were the absolute best I've ever had, made with heirloom tomato juice. Just thinking about them makes me drool. Arguably the best drink on earth.

I would also say that's not really breakfast either. It's definitely a brunch. I would love to see any sort of classic diner breakfast fare in the xroads.

Fair point - good, greasy food. I stick to it for lunch and latenite, though. If given a choice, I'd prefer a place that has tables for a Sat/Sun brunch. People tend to hover in Town Topic. Makes you want to get in/get out.

The Brick B&G bar is always tasty, the biscuits are good, and the menu is well done.  I especially like the potatoes.
My only complaint is that most times the biscuits arn't warm.. because the warmer is usually turned off...

That may be because it dries them out.  I've never worked in a restaurant so someone who has may correct me, but biscuits in a hot pan seems like they would dry out.  It's my understanding that the water under them doesn't actually do anything other than provide evenly distributed heat.

It hasn't been a big problem, since the gravy is extra warm...

and fast food places have the best biscuits for this reason, they do enough volume to cook them so frequently. not profitable for your average operation to keep cooking biscuits over and over again, and the average patron is not going to be willing to wait the time it will take to cook fresh biscuits for every order.

The biscuits at the Brick are in a covered crock pot.  I would assume that a low heat setting would keep the biscuits warm and maintain moisture inside the crockpot in the form of steam...
