Pee Can pie sounds disgusting.
I shorten KC to Kansa city. I don't say city with a z though!

My mom says "wosh" and my dad says "warsh". I gave up on trying to correct them years ago. And my grandparents like to go to "Ha-wah-yuh" on vacation.Ez Street wrote: Warshburn University as some people call it here in Topeka. Pisses me off!
Also, CRICK instead of Creek. Assinine.
Winda instead of Window. Pilla instead of Pillow. Those are usually said by older folks.

Here we go, spilling pet peeves.
How about "ask"?
The afro/am pronunciation is often "axed".
Palefaces have the common tendency to say it as "ast".
Do you enunciate it clearly, as written?

Is this a reference to the famous K-7 drive-in in my hometown of Urich, MO? As Urich's finest (and only) restaurant, it is a must see attraction on any trip to the lake/Springfield/float trip/Branson etc.lock+load wrote: K-7

Come by for the greasy diner food, stay to mingle with some laid back country folk. Just don't hit Sea-bass with a salt shaker, unless you want your burger hawked on. Continue by detouring down highway K to see my ancestral home along with other sights of rural, "Merica." Take the rural poverty tour. You'll be charmed by meth labs, slow moving pickup trucks and other products of economic and cultural malaise out in the rural, where a combination of poor education, a complete lack of job prospects and a dearth of entertainment options breed alcholism, spousal abuse and meth addiction.

Re: Regionality Check!
ape-ricot is probably how its pronounced here in south st. louis, but not in the way that is easiest to imagine.
worshington university is said quite a bit as well here south of I-44 in the City.
nothing wrong with adopting the regional dialect. kick back, crack a bud, turn on some drive by truckers, burn some shit. you guys are too quick to throw the baby out with the bathwater.

And there are those who say "pop" and those who say "soda".
And I have never figured out how a person with the given name of John becomes a Jack.

I may be right. I may be wrong. But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

I'm not sure if I've ever heard it pronounced APPricot. Doesn't even sound right.

When I was a kid, my cousins (from Illinois) used to ask my grandfather if they could have sodee-pop. And i watned to smack the hell out of them, for using that lame term.warwickland wrote: my old man says "soda pop." go figure. and then there is southwestern illinois-"sodee."

Also, Bahua: APE-ricot is accepted by dictionary.com so you're incorrect when you say it's the "wrong way" to say it.

The sharp divide in PA and NY is interesting, as well as the bastions of Soda in St. Louis and Milwaukee.

The old timer, Eye-talians down here in the North End call it Sody Pop and, for some reason I can't figure out, I've heard many local people called "Sal", when that is clearly not their name.aknowledgeableperson wrote: And there are those who say "pop" and those who say "soda".
