Yeah.  My Gixxer was in the shop for six months while they were supposedly ordering parts.

Depending on the work load, you could be in for a wait. Its prime riding season right now and with the late spring, they could be snowed under.
I'd suggest calling the wrench there to see when its going to be done. If it meets with your displeasure, take it somewhere else.
or

Buy the service manual and tear in to it yourself! You may be able to get it going for a fraction of what the shop would have charged you - and learn a thing or two in the process!

i have told you what a great deal i got on my goldwing. i have told how good it runs too and how much fun it is to ride.

guess what? the guy i bought my goldwing from has just finished up another one and it's on craigslist right now. he just put it up for sale @ $2350. it's black and was originally an interstate model. right now it has the original bags on it and also comes with a trunk and fairing you can put back on it. the guy is a straight shooter and a maintenance freak and has done all the work for you. it's an awesome looking bike and i have no doubt that it will run like a bat outta hell.

I can do all the work, the problem is one of the downsides to urban living is it doesn't come with a garage. I've torn a bike apart in the storage unit when I lived in coffee lofts and rebuilt the carbs.... I don't have anyway to do it where I'm at now.

The thing that really pissed me off is I went in there last wednesday and they said they lost my paperwork and it fell of the waiting line, but they would have it done early this week. I've been to busy and the weather hasn't been perfect so I'll wait until Monday or Tuesday to see whats up.

Anyone used Cafe Racer? I'd really like to go to a closer more conveniant place.

I'm digging that Goldwing though, I'd like to have something smaller and more nimble, mostly due to lack of experience, but that would be freaking nice to drive down to the lake! But 67K miles?!?!?

67k on a goldwing means that it's just getting broke in.

a goldwing is like a whole 'nother country. it doesn't ride like other bikes. it seems small when it's sitting next to harley's or modern cruisers or tourer's. it is kinda scary fast. it will outrun almost any other bike except for crotch rockets and v-rods. it will cruise longer at higher speeds than almost any other bike on the road. its low center of gravity combined with it's road handling manners make it a great bike to cruise the back roads. the seating position coupled with it's low center means you are almost a part of it rather than just sitting on top of it like most other bikes. it rides very well in side winds. low center plus low profile plus weight down low work very well. it is a masterpiece of engineering that has held up very well since it was first designed over 30 years ago. if i had the dough i would buy another bike for a little change of pace like a crossbones, but i would never sell my goldwing. it runs too well and and being a honda means for the most part i only have to check the oil and put gas in it. i don't have to spend money for all sorts of doodads for it because it already has what it needs.  i don't need to spend countless hours washing and cleaning it because, well, it's a honda and doesn't need pampering. when it needs a wash i just take it out in the rain. all it wants is rpm's and open roads and it is very happy.

The above post makes me want to put my jeans back on and head back out!
We did about 150 or so today, started rainy - bikes are filthy (BFD!! - I bought it to ride - not polish)
Headed up to Leavenworth Nat. Cemetery and walked amongst the fallen heroes and placed some flags and flowers. Then off to Lawrence H-D for some doo-dads and stuff.
Free State Brewery to re-fresh and relax, then back home via the backroads. Three couples, 4 bikes and a great time!
Yeah we got wet this morning - its all part of the deal! By the time we had our rain gear on, the heavy stuff was past us.
Clouds cleared off - HOLY COW what a great day to ride!

That Goldwing sounds like a helluva deal - If I had room - well, and some extra scratch - that sounds like a fun purchase! (yeah, Mr. die-hard Harley said that!)  :D
Honda puts out an excelent product. There's a reason the newer Goldwings are considered the most comfortable sport-bike on the market! They're quicker and more nimble than most Harleys and its like riding in a Sedan DeVille at the same time! Very popular, extremely reliable machines!

nice report. it's great to get out and just ride for fun instead of riding to back and forth to work. i've been able to get out and just have fun a couple of times this past week or so. it's nice. i'm getting so used to riding and not driving my truck that when i do have to drive my truck i often leave the stereo faceplate at home because i want to enjoy my drive instead of listening to drivel on the radio.

btw, i wouldn't own a fairing-ed out goldwing. especially a new one. i think it would be like driving a winnebago on 2 wheels. i would go for a valkyrie though.

i do know if i had the dough to spend on a harley i would be keeping it clean. they cost way too much to treat like a honda.

Here's some pics from our Saturday ride.

Got a lil wet so the rain gear came out. So did the sun - aboiut the time we got our gear on - so the gear came off, regardless of how corny us forty-somethings look trying to do it.

1.5 months later, I have my bike. All appears to be well...

Any suggestions where some good rides are? I personally don't like highway driving on this bike (just yet, it's 30 years old). Something close to KC, low traffic, single lane, trees and turns....

I cruised down Blue River Road last night...that is just my pace for now...

Maybe try Parkville. The back roads there have nice hills, curves and trees. Might be a nice ride.

Sturgis - the mother of all rallies kicks off this week, Sunday to be exact. Thought I'd throw this web cam up for those of us - myself included who can't be there.

If you ride - you must experience this.

I ride a (heavily) modded 2001 X1 Buell Lightning. You've probably seen, or heard, me around town - the front fairing has a Decepticon logo on it. 8)

My bike's a true street fighter.  8)

I'm running Thunderstorm heads (stock with the 2001 sportster engines in the Buells), race ECM (for higher revs), flattrack race pipe, Forcewinder intake, did all the tuning myself via ECM spy with my laptop. Bored out the cams for more HP. It throws out 115 HP on the rear tire after dyno tests. Still super torquey, still wants to pop wheelies in high gears. I don't care so much about top speed, but torque alone I outrun most bikes in the street.

Aestetics include Corbin seat, tore off practically all of the farings, undertail and old mirrors (with exception of the bellypan, faring over the gages and gas tank, 5 degree handlebars, bar end mirrors, PM wheels. My next big project is to extend the swingarm and drop it about an inch lower with a fat tire on back and move fully over to the Forcewinder pipes for a more powerful racetrack roar.
