Flying Saucer
Is there any update as to the status of the Flying Saucer? Beerknurd.net has no mention of a KC store coming soon, nor have I seen any updates around these parts. Has this fallen through, or is everything going as planned? When is this place expected to open up?

There are "coming soon" signs for it in the windows along 13th Street near the corner of Walnut.

Construction seems to be moving along for an opening in a couple months.

This place is starting to look good inside. The guy at the door told me that they will be opening in early May.

I already have 3 beers on my Flying Saucer UFO club card. You will all see what I mean once this place opens. Been to the one in Dallas and Ft. Worth.

I should've gotten a club card. I've been to Flying Saucer's in Dallas/Fort Worth, Little Rock, and Nashville.

Same here. I hope they'll have the same deal nights that they have at the Addison Flying Saucer... If that's the case, i'll dedicate a night every week as my flying saucer nightBEERMAN wrote: I already have 3 beers on my Flying Saucer UFO club card. I wonder if they have Schneider Weisse. It's an amazing Munich wheat beer.

Re: Flying Saucer
Nothing alien about good beer
The 5,500-square-foot operation opens Monday at 101 E. 13th St. in the Kansas City Power & Light District. Along with its “flying saucer” collector plates, the operations are known for offering international, high-quality handcrafted beers. Many are seasonal.
The new location is on the north side of the district, without an entrance to the Kansas City Live block.
“It’s not quite so hustle-bustle, a little bit out of the fray,” Wynne said. “Our BeerKnurds can approach the Flying Saucer without going through all the crowds.”
BeerKnurds are members of the restaurant’s UFO loyalty club. When they pay $14 to join, they get a T-shirt and card. The card is swiped to keep track of the different beers they’ve tried. After 200 different beers — only three a day count — the imbiber’s name is put on a brass plate on the Ring of Honor.
“It’s a big deal. We take it very seriously,” Wynne said.
The menu includes bratwurst, burgers, salads, pizza and wings.

I dig the fact that it's not open to the Live courtyard. Should cut down a TON on striped shirts!

found this on their website....
http://www.beerknurd.com/store.iframe.php?store=18
best part is when you click on beer and it shows you what beers are supposed to be there at the KC location!

Re: Flying Saucer
Anybody serving Pilsner Urquell on tap gets my business. The menu looks good to. Can't wait to try a Bratwurst plate and a good Czech beer. I suspect this place will be the biggest hit of all P&L establishments. Hope it doesn't kill Gordon Biersch's business. It's great to have an onsite brew pub there as well.coreyo wrote: found this on their website....

I'm insanely excited for this tonight.
I think the first I'll try is the Lindeman's Pomme lambic. Never had an apple lambic before!
