Sorry I'm being so secretive, but the guy who told me was in "I shouldn't be telling you this" mode.

Actually one of the "land bank" lots north of Crown Center would be great. Since it will be several more years before CC develops those.

You know, I thought about it...& I realized that there's no harm in saying what I heard. It's not like it'll screw up the deal or anything.
The site is in the Home Depot part of the parking lot - up against that big retaining wall on the north side of the lot, behind the Popeye's & Taco Bell.
Now remember, this it tentative. But that's where I was told they're shooting for. I think it's a GREAT location.

Better than Valentine. That parking lot is a wasteland anyway.

Plus you would hope that one day that corner of Valentine might get redeveloped into something better - midtown marketplace on the other hand probably is what it is for the foreseeable future.Midtownkid wrote: Better than Valentine. That parking lot is a wasteland anyway.

I was thinking of Sunfresh, but I hate Home Depot too.amaugh wrote: I think I know exactly where you are talking about.

Also better than the East Crossroads, for much the same reason. It would be cool if they could set up a small building materials recycling center there as well, something that could work in cooperation with the Habitat Re-store. But maybe that would just be an invitation to dump.LenexatoKCMO wrote: Plus you would hope that one day that corner of Valentine might get redeveloped into something better - midtown marketplace on the other hand probably is what it is for the foreseeable future.

Definitely, not maybe.heatherkay wrote: But maybe that would just be an invitation to dump.
I shop at Costco frequently and at Home Depot sometimes, so bringing my recycleables with me will kill two or three birds w/ one stone. I sure hope this goes through for that reason.

BTG web site and newsletters say that they are still looking for a site.
Re: New Midtown Recycling Center Ideas
did anyone go to the recycling meetings that MARC held recently? i went to the one downtown on monday and one of the main recommendations was to put recycling bins at grocery stores (amongst many others).
