Gordon Biersch
Gordon Biersch
Just got an invite in the mail for the Gordon Biersch grand opening party on March 8th. This will be a good addition to the district. I've been to one or two other locations.
I can see this place being swamped during Sprint Center events.

That is going to be great to get a restaurant on that corner. Right accross the street from Teds.

I believe it's actually on the northwest corner of Live, if I'm not mistaken.kucer wrote: southwest corner of Live block.

Yeah. Isn't Gordon Biersch on the bottom level right across the hallway from Saucer? The space directly south? Either way, I don't think it's on the southwest corner.

Re: Gordon Biersch
very southwest corner of the block, underneath Lucky Strike....walk/drive down walnut and you can see their beer tanks out back....which brings up a thought....guess they probably won't have any of their own beer brewed by the Big 12...doesn't that take a month or two to brew?
Re: Gordon Biersch
Depends on whether they do the entire brewing process on site or just the final stages a la Granite City. However, I doubt the absence of site-brewed beer sill hold up the opening. When the GC in Olathe opened, the wife and I stopped in to check it out. When I ordered one of the IPAs, we were told it would still be a couple of weeks before they had their own beers ready. Figuring I could get a bottle of Miller Lite anywhere, we excused ourselves and came back later, once they had their own beer going.KCPowercat wrote: very southwest corner of the block, underneath Lucky Strike....walk/drive down walnut and you can see their beer tanks out back....which brings up a thought....guess they probably won't have any of their own beer brewed by the Big 12...doesn't that take a month or two to brew?
Somehow, I figure the Big XII crowd will be more into the MillerBudCoors (one word because there really isn't any difference) offerings anyhow.

You would think they would schedule the construction to complete the beer production area before they start the restaurant/kitchen finish - that way they could have a batch ready at opening.

Re: Gordon Biersch
And they should brew a special brew for Grand Opening only available at yearly anniversaries. Something like a 12% ale!

Re: Gordon Biersch
yeah I didn't mean to say it would delay their opening...just that they wouldn't have their beer at opening....no biggie to me, I'll be outside drinking Blvd. Irish Ale.jimb wrote: Depends on whether they do the entire brewing process on site or just the final stages a la Granite City. According to the waitress I talked to at the GB in Seattle, they do in fact brew all their stuff onsite.jimb wrote: Depends on whether they do the entire brewing process on site or just the final stages a la Granite City.

I'm certain they'll bring enough pre-brewed GB beer to please the masses while they get the brewing operation underway.KCPowercat wrote: very southwest corner of the block, underneath Lucky Strike....walk/drive down walnut and you can see their beer tanks out back....which brings up a thought....guess they probably won't have any of their own beer brewed by the Big 12...doesn't that take a month or two to brew?

Re: Gordon Biersch
yeah guess it's easy enough to ship in from another location.
Re: Gordon Biersch
Note: the maibock they had in Seattle was not bad at all.

Anyone notice that the railings are subtle wheat stalks?
