My casino idea is the best. It's the only idea that CAN'T fail and would bring a ton of redevelopment with it, hotel, restaurants, etc...

Does anyone have a problem with a casino there? I don't go to the casinos, but they know how to attract people. Perhaps a wing of Science City could still be a part of Union Station, there is plenty of room. When is this city EVER going to make an intelligent decision regarding critical mass and development?

Don't you think a casino corrupts the integrity of the building? Science City sure ain't doing anything to help it, but I'd rather see something like the Smithsonian as someone else proposed. I would like a vibrant cultural center in the heart of the city.

As much as I love gambling, leave the casinos near the river. I don't want the TRASH that hangs out at the Isle of Capri hangin' around Union Station. An urban core casino wouldn't draw the Harrah's or Ameristar clientele. Make Union Station a cultural attraction by fixing up Science City w/ Smithsonian type exhibits, adding a Train Museum and adding a KC History Museum.
The Pendergast Poltergeist Project!

I finally divorced beer and proposed to whiskey, but I occassionally cheat with fine wine.

No more than soap and water corrupt the historic stink of the urban core.

Union Station Leaders Pitch for New Attractions
Kansas City, MO- Union Station's CEO says the historic landmark needs two more destination attractions, in addition to Science City.
CEO Turner White admits Science City hasn't been a enough draw to offset Union Station's huge operating expenses. Turner is hoping voters will approve a five million dollar a year tax subsidy to put the landmark back on solid financial ground. If that happen he says Union Station would like to add a railroad museum. Plus, he'd to like add a Firefighter Museum or relocate the Arabia Steamboat Museum to Union Station. But he admits no matter what, Union Station will always need taxpayer help to stay open.
