I mean no ill will. That is simply what I heard, as I said.loftguy wrote: Seems we go to the negative options some times.
The owner of this building renovated this building in a manner that did not disturb the patina of the years.
He did so because he loves the look and appreciates the character. This choice probably increased his costs of renovation by 20 to 25% as it took artisans rather than laborers to execute.
Surreptitious? C'mon man.

What are you talking about? I don't care about the rest of the building, it's fine. Look at the ground level. There's plywood covering the windows and entrance, there are trashbags in the windows. It looks absolutely terrible and abandoned on the ground level. You're trying to say that's a good thing?loftguy wrote: Seems we go to the negative options some times.

The space where the former Cup And Saucer was is slated to become another coffee shop according to those developing and restoring the interior. Both the restaurant side and the bar side are being gutted as we speak. The bar in the C&S has been taken out, as have walls on the restaurant side. I'm all for another coffee shop but really just want it to be open late and have an edgy feel to it. Not the youth group coffee shop. I've said many times, we just need the concept of the C&S back.
Put your money where your mouth is...live downtown. Get out of the car and walk, shop, and play in the city. Don't bring a suburban attitude/lifestyle to the city, rather be apart of changing the urban fabric for the better.

I hope it actually happens this time unlike the earlier attempt.
I was wondering if something was up, though... it looked like some work had been done when I walked by this morning.

I walked by today and there were 2 people sitting at a table inside talking business with a Roasterie bag on the table. I think that has to bode well.

Sigh. Well, two coffeehouses within a block of each other. You can practically see the other from each. Perhaps this will prompt City Market Coffeehouse to up their game.

CMC has expanded their hours a little but I'd sure like more than just 1 night a week that I can stop and get a coffee after work. Especially since Scooters won't let me anymore. But it seemed like CMC did that in response more to Scooter, their hours were actually shorter back when the original Cup & Saucer coffeehouse was open if I remember right.staubio wrote: Sigh. Did it have something to do with that moonwalk on the countertop?
(heck, I thought you owned the place.)

Sort of reminds of Lewis Black talking about having a Starbuck's across the street from another Starbuck's in Houston.staubio wrote: Sigh. Well, two coffeehouses within a block of each other. Haha! No... since they shortened their hours they're usually closed by the time I am able to get over there after work.

Re: Status and future of the River Market area??
Does anyone know what the deal is with the KC Railyard apartments and/or second street construction projects? I remembered seeing that both were supposed to start construction in October, yet I was down that way yesterday and walked by to check it out and saw no signs of either project having been started.
