So has nearly every restaurant in town at some point:

Do not click the above link if you want to enjoy blissful ignorance about your favorite restaurant.

Health code stories are such a lame cop-out for local news. All they have to do is spend an afternoon reading health department web sites and then put together some melodramatic teasers hyping their "investigative" special report. Every restaurant has at least some violations.

Most kitchens in our homes would not pass some of the inspections restaurants have to pass.

I guess it is a little odd a brand new place gets a health code violation.
The rules are strict, but make sense (touch money then touch food, touching clean dishes without washing hands, etc.)

Makes perfect sense to me that new restaurants would have violations, as it takes time for them to get up to speed, train employees, learn the local laws, etc.trailerkid wrote:I guess it is a little odd a brand new place gets a health code violation.

There was a mention in Cityscape yesterday that they are going with 3 more KC metro locations(OP first) and one in Lawrence. It was also implied that internally there was a lot of hesitation and nervousness about the KC location, but that it had become a smashing success in the chain.
My predictions for locations:
OP (135th and Metcalf area)
Independence (Hartman Heritage area)
KCMO (Westport area)
Lawrence (South Iowa)

I was going to say KC Live!, but I thought it would be horrible PR for Cordish to put Famous Dave's in there. Famous Dave's does go into urban districts with locations that are a little unique (i.e. Uptown Minneapolis). I could see them fitting in well in Westport. They should go in where Tizer's is presently at.

I can see them fitting in well outside of the Kansas City metropolitan area completely! Or, maybe they can build one in Gladstone, down the street from kansasfarmbaby's lil' shack.trailerkid wrote:Famous Dave's does go into urban districts with locations that are a little unique (i.e. Uptown Minneapolis). Not Westport. Put them on the Plaza, it's now the de facto "urban" location for the chain restaurants.

I guess I would think Highwoods would never even sit down to the table with them. Plaza hosts some of the more exclusive restaurants and Famous Dave's addition would probably usher in Chili's, Perkin's, and IHOP.

Can we really say that the Plaza is truly exclusive anymore? Tenant-wise, it's not much different than any other open-air, upscale shopping/dining development in other cities.

Yeah...I know somebody would bring up all the crap the Plaza let in, but Famous Dave's is step down from even CPK or Buca. Plaza still has stuff like Ruth's Chris, Plaza III, McCormick and Schmick's, etc., etc. It's just considered a little more swanky than FD's even with the standard stuff.
