I think the winning design would look better if they somehow incorporated the ribbon onto the bluebird design because the word "Missouri" looks kind of plain to me on the bluebird design

I'd be happy with the old red and white plates. Or any plain color with white letters.

Are there as many vanity plates as there used to be when we had the old plates or was it just the STL folk who had so many of them.

why the hell do states insist on putting an outline of the state map on the license plate?

What you've said is so true, and that's probably why I liked it from the start.
And now that you say it looks terrible and like dish towel a mom would buy, I like it even more.  It's not graphically slick at all.  It's like bad, unfinished folk art.  It's so wrong it's great!

I'll probably add some addtional tiny stickers to it once I get one.  Stickers of little farm animals and dump trucks would be a nice addition.

I believe that if the state of Missouri wants to embrace its grandma's "dish towel" art vibe, then they should have designed the new plates to look like they are carved wood.  How hilarious would it be to have plates that look like cedar signs carvd to name a Lake house!  They could even add a catfish etching to the bottom or an old man fishing with a hat pulled down over his eyes.

Call it The Branson/Silver Dollar City Plate. You could have your choice in an inset
of Jim Stafford, Yakoff Smirnoff, the Beverly Hillbillies, or the Osmonds w/Andy Williams.

Well, I guess the bluebird design is A step up from a cock/rooster design that you see on so many dish towels, or kitchen wall paper these days. :(
