City Hall: DO YOUR F-ING JOB!!!

So I wake up to the Sunday edition of the Star to find the City is seeking outside consultants for a variety of projects they have planned, but not funded.

At what point did the City Employees who used to actually strategize and implement plans turn into a message taking service for outside consultants? If the City Staff is adequately stacked with top pros in the development field, shouldn't that be adequate to handle the job set before them?

If 90% of us were confronted with a task at our jobs and rebutted the issue to someone in management (assuming you are not) by suggesting we need outside help, wouldn't management have every right to flip us the bird, fire our asses and finally HIRE SOMEONE WHO KNOWS WHAT THE HELL THEY'RE DOING?

FIGURE SOMETHING OUT ON YOUR OWN!

There are more f-ing consultants in City Hall than employees.

this is the reason that Cauthen fired folks. Its to shake up things at City Hall. I would rather have someone come in from the outside, with no ties to the old guard, and shake things up. If we wait till Cauthen makes those types of changes in City Hall, we have to wait till he fired the failures, searched for and hired replacements, have them get up to speed on projects, and then start doing things.

By bringing in outsiders, he's not only moving things forward, but sending notice to city hall that they'd better get on the ball and do their jobs before they are in the unemployment line.

We could always have a recall election...there are people Cauthen can't fire, and they're the ones we really need to get rid of imo.

We just had an election, and every incumbent was reelected. The majority of voters didn't seem too displeased. There hasn't been any huge news of impropriety, just the usual stuff that happens in any big city government, so there isn't a compelling cause for a recall.

Cauthen is acting quickly and decisively to correct many problems. Tell your council members to stay out of his way and let him do his job.

Voter ignorance and apathy isn't a good excuse to keep the crooks in power, but I guess it'll have to do.

I doubt that stealing $8 million from taxpayers and 'misplacing' it in the pockets of your rich friends is 'the usual stuff' and if it is, then I guess we might as well all blow our heads off now, cause there really is no hope.

Where you here in the early 1990s? Back then the local TV news regularly featured city council members being led away in handcuffs and state and local officials testifying in bribery and corruption trials. Even the Speaker of the Missouri House went down in flames for taking kickbacks from the riverboat casinos.

Sure it ain't perfect and corruption still exists, but it's much better than it was ten years ago.

I've lived here all my life, but I've only taken an interest in politics within the last several years. I do recall those heady days when the casinos first came to town though, and I'm here to tell you that nothing has changed but the names. The game's the same.

You're right that there's no major media coverage, but that makes me more nervous rather than more comfortable. There IS shady shit going on, period. You don't lose $8 million and then say, "oh well, no big deal, we don't need an investigation" -- unless you're Kay Barnes, I guess.

i've already decided not to date until i go to college, because dating should soley be for marriage purposes only IMO.
but it doesnt mean i can't like girls, just i don't date. (besides, i never have and don't know 1 thing about it, but still tell my friends what not to do)

i've seen what happens (sort of). two kids at school had a kid on purpose (just born over the weekend) which i thought was dumb but hey, i'm glad i'm not them.
