Give Buck his b-day present: Join the Negro Leagues Museum!

Post by carfreekc »

For his 92nd birthday, Buck O'Neil wants 9,200 new members to join the Negro Leagues Baseball Museum in November. You can get a membership for only $10 right now!

On Saturday the 15th, Buck will be at the museum from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m., along with other former Negro Leagues players. They'll sign autographs for people who become museum members, and you'll also get to choose either a free 1924 KC Monarchs cap or a vintage photo of Buck, according to the ad in the paper today.

If you can't make it to the museum on Saturday to join, you can find more info about membership here (but it doesn't have the $10 info on there yet): http://www.nlbm.com/membership.html

Damn, the guy's 92 years old. Surely we can scrounge up that many people at only ten bucks a pop! (Hmm, I think some of my family members are going to be getting memberships for part of the holidays this year...)

I agree - there's no way most of us (post high school and employed) shouldn't be able to come up with at least ten bucks to help out a great institution.

Tell you what - let's all post here as we join ... so we can keep track of the ne'erdowells who aren't holding up their end! =D> If the KC development people aren't into this, who will be?

I'm joining...I was there last weekend and picked up some info about the different levels.

This is easily one of KC's best attractions and I'd bet you could stop 10 people on the street and 6 wouldn't have been there...truly sad.

This would be an excellent opportunity for those who haven't visited this great museum to GET THEIR ASSES OUT THERE!

I finally divorced beer and proposed to whiskey, but I occassionally cheat with fine wine.

Made it down there, too late for an autograph, but in time for a membership.

I hope they reach the goal.
