contracts signed for two trains. what's the current timeframe on delivery?
FY20 budget will reflect increased service for the additional cars, so two years delivery.
So, fall of 2019?
probably. as before, there are penalties for the manufacturer being late.

I wish one of the penalties could be CAF USA giving us a free car if they're late.

I know people hate when I post these, but I do it out of love.

Tried to take the streetcar again from 9th Street to Union station to catch a train on Friday. Almost no traffic on main Street. The sign says something like 23 minutes and 25 minutes to the next trains.

I started walking to Union station and got there without a single streetcar passing me. The last station said arriving but I looked behind and didn't see any street car.

The way back home worked better. We still stupidly stopped at a few lights to let one car go through for god knows what reason at night.

This really needs to be fixed. Oh, and there was a big sign saying every 10-15 minutes at the stop.

Use the app if the signs seem wrong. It's more accurate. There may have been a blockage or a car taken out of service the moment your were waiting.

Comment from Facebook on the wreck

"A nice clean bus pulled up, driver opened the door and yelled 'this is the streetcar'"

Can we get that to be the new audio announcement at each stop? Lol

https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/ ... costs.html
Four years ago, Clarkson was part of another hometown team, Kiewit-Clarkson Infrastructure Co., that was the second-place bidder for the job of construction manager at risk on another high-profile Kansas City project: the streetcar starter line.

In the wake of a selection committee recommendation of a bid from a joint venture that included St. Joseph heavy contractor Herzog Contracting Corp. and California rail builder Stacy and Witbeck Inc., the Kiewit-Clarkson team argued that the out-of-town bid was not the “lowest and best” because of the city’s “failure to properly score” the competing bids.

In addition, some members of the City Council complained that the hometown streetcar development team had been slighted.

On Thursday, however, Clarkson said in retrospect that “we got beat fair and square, I imagine.”

flyingember wrote:This was opening year 2015 ridership forecasts but it's still interesting how conservative the numbers are.

3rd/Grand 51
5th/Walnut 43
4th/Delaware 25
8th/Main 208
10th/Main 499
12th/Main 811
14th/Main 248
16th/Main 84
18th/Main 141
20th/Main 243
Union Station 333
Total 2,686

Look at 5th/Walnut. that's the city market stop. That's 15695 riders in the first year at this stop.

There's 19656 hours of coverage over the course of this year. Already this stop is only expected to have 80% usage of the stop at the very most.

It's very clear that most the usage on the system for this one stop will be from 9am to 3pm on Saturday and Sunday from April to October. (31 weeks) Using the long end on frequency of three trains per hour let's assume that half the usage of the year for this stop is on those 62 days, or 7847 riders.

So that's 36 trains going by each day for half the yearly usage of this stop. 7847 riders on 1116 trains. That's 0.14 riders per train stopping there during peak weekend market hours. That seems very low.

The numbers get interesting is for the rest of the year there's 3138 people with 19193 trains to serve them. There's not going to be a system capacity problem most of the day at the city market. There's TONS of room for TOD development.

This will become the defining location when pointing out how you can add thousands of residents and customers to an area with no new parking nearby.
This is worth revisiting as the system reaches 3 million rides soon.

Here's the first year report the new numbers came from
http://kcstreetcar.org/wp-content/uploa ... rt-web.pdf

This is the average daily use with each NB and SB stop averaged. To compare to old I took 18th stop that wasn't built and distributed half each to the 19th and 16th St stops.
The percentage is the difference between the original forecast and actual use.

City Market 504- 988%
River Market North 467- 1085%
River Market West 379- 1515%
North Loop NB 50- 24%
Library 166- 33%
Metro 246- 30%
Power & Light 301- 121%
Kauffman 141- 91%
Crossroads 208- 66%
Union Station 1350- 405%
Total: 4923- 183%

The absence of sending out dash video of 801 crash makes me think the blame isn't as cut and dry as the vehicle crash last year.

Why does who's at fault have to play a part?

it's more likely someone filled out the right paperwork to get a copy. Wasn't it first made available by the media?
