I am not sure if this has been posted here before and this may be more of a vent than anything, but here it goes!
What is up with the design of the placement of the traffic signals in Overland Park?
1. Some intersections have 4 poles on each corner with the signal stretched out across the road
2. Some intersections have 2 poles on each corner with the other signals stuck in the median
3. Some intersections are managed by signals in each median
3. All of these intersections have there own separate pole for the crosswalk signs and additional signals
4. Some of these crosswalk signs don't have sidewalks to match up with
IMHO I think the city could save money if they didn't erect a pole for additional signals and use the existing ones. In addition, the placement of the actual signal seems odd as it is placed a roughly 20 feet (maybe more) behind the intersection.
Not only are the signals designed and erected with no design, but the timing or lack of timing is off as well!
