Wow, biggest economic driver in their district ever and the two Northlanders vote against it. Blows my mind!

They knew it would pass and now can still complain. It's a northlanders dream.

Since MO is at present right-to-work, is it even legal to require only union workers?

There is a MO law that prohibits projects favoring unions over non-union. I am not a lawyer and won't pretend to be for this discussion.

There is also a law the prohibits usage fees for pork too. I again won't pretend to be a lawyer here.

I don't know my KC council people all that well but isn't Hall (no) pretty much anti everything and pretty vocal about it too? She was against the new terminal, she's very anti streetcar and anti convention hotel. That was no surprise regardless of her being a northland council person - probably just carry over from her previous position on the issue.

she was a big proponent of giving Westport our sidewalks.

She doesn't come off as very with it, always asking kind of obscure shallow questions.

She seems to side with whatever the FOP wants.

A wet blanket could beat loar on the surface...but she must have some powerful connections to keep getting her elected.

She beat Jay Hodges, her only challenger. His campaign was not at all inspiring. Maybe he'll run again and take it more seriously.

She has served multiple times though...something keeps getting her in it seems...it's not her stances on policy as I've never seen her have a stance on anything.

Loar already has a (real or not) union challenger over her support from June

https://www.bizjournals.com/kansascity/ ... arget.html
Patrick “Duke” Dujakovich, president of the Greater Kansas City AFL-CIO, said in a written statement Thursday that he intends to run for the 2nd District At-Large seat that Loar was elected to fill until 2019.

“This is not an undertaking I ever saw myself involved in, but I could no longer sit back and watch my friends and city be subject to the antics of Councilwoman Loar,” Dujakovich said.

Loar raised Dujakovich’s ire by questioning the city’s rush to put the single-terminal proposal on the November ballot.

Dujakovich, who is eager for the 18,000 jobs that construction of the proposed KCI project is expected to create, said “you would think over $1 billion worth of work in (the 2nd) council district should be seen as a simple plan to support.”

“We truly have been subject to vindictive decision-making and a failure to lead by our current councilwoman,” he said. “This is simply the latest in a string of self-serving decisions and petty, unprofessional behavior.”

Yea, Hall is a bit of a mystery to me as well. She typically votes "no" on large issues as such claiming she needs more time. I swear I have heard her ask for more time on almost any major issue I follow. Husband is in the KCPD so that probably helps.

Ironically, 3 of 4 northland reps voted against the airport!!!
