Used the free fare yesterday, it was so easy.
Too bad I won't be able to continue using it since work won't be able to buy us the mobile passes

If someone who can script is petty enough to spoof the app, that's probably the least of their nefarious deeds.

a couple of tweaks: you can now pay with american express and the quantity limit for day passes is now ten instead of one.

the official rideKC app now displays streetcar locations. check the 'where's my ride" feature and search for 'streetcar'. you can favorite the route for quick access.

I love this app and highly recommend it to anyone who rides the bus at any frequency.

On a related note, KCATA opening its Uber style ondemand service to general public, downtown at first.

Fares for the on-demand service are $3 for the first eight miles and $2 each mile after for senior passengers or those with disabilities.

For the general public, the fare is $10 for the first five miles and $2 for each mile after. And as opposed to other private ride-hailing services, there is no surge charge.

“No other transit agency in the U.S. offers the same service,” Makinen said.

Greater downtown? So I'm guessing Hyde park is included in that

Doesn’t that seem more expensive that an uber trip (except for during surge pricing)?

I don't think so. I just checked a trip that is 4.9 miles (work to home) and it would cost $10.86 for uber, plus tips are now expected. Thats without surge pricing.

The best thing this does is allow guests. Previously it was just a single ride purchased, which is expensive. Now it actually makes sense as a ride share app.

The thing that will set it apart is how long it takes to actually get the ride. I have tried to use Z-trip (because i philosophically hate Uber), but their app always screws up and takes forever....so i usually turn back to uber.
