Regular bus riders probably know this but thought I'd start a topic on it. I mostly use MAX and usually don't need this but had to transfer bus to the Northtowne car dealers and Google Now made it very easy to just go without having to plan and get realtime info for next bus.
On phone - install Google Now and Google Maps if not already (available on iPhone too)
- Open Google Now
- Say 'navigate to (place name or address)'
- Press on Transit icon (it defaults to car)
Click on the route you want to take, map appears.
Click on Time of Travel below map and it gives step by step instructions (walk/transfer) and sometimes shows countdown to next bus
On computer - maps.google.com
- Click on Directions
- Punch in source/destination (can use name of place)
- Click on Transit icon (it defaults to car)
It lists the route options and times including time to walk to nearest stop.

You can also track local buses with this mobile-friendly site: http://itsab.us/tracker/

^Thanks, tried it. I like that it shows Uber time and KC Bikeshare. Google Now was more streamlined to launch, say 'navigate to xyz' and instantly get quickest route. Now also shows realtime countdown to arrival of buses that have GPS. Also supports Android watches.
