So what if there were roads that are turned into seasonal pedestrian plazas
Imagine if the Plaza became mostly one large car-free zone on weekends from Thanksgiving to Christmas? The way the garages are laid out it wouldn't be impossible to mark detours or have some counterflow routes to parking and close down the core of the Plaza?
I was there on Saturday and saw people make illegal turns, try to cut pedestrians and other cars off to make a turn (was the same person actually) and ignore crosswalks
We do this on Brookside for their art show and Grand is blocked during many events so it's already doable.
Where else could this be done?
Because it's easy to talk about a full time closure and hard to make it happen. So the place to start is to show people how a pedestrian plaza works.

If the local merchants want it done they would be the ones pushing for it. Convince them first.
