Dave, as mentioned are you aware of any talk about free Downtown/Northland bus service while bridge is out of service? Or even if not free, a marketing blitz with local media?

^Related, has anyone heard whether the shoulder of Burlington will be turned back into a transit-only lane with priority signals like it was when the Paseo Bridge broke?

I think I heard this is happening, along with the “queue jump”.

No talk of making the services free, that I’m aware of.

Twitter account said they believe so but didn't have full details.

That's as good as a yes for them.

Via twitter, confirmed SB Burlington parking lane is going to be bus only from 26th to 12th, 6-9am

Also going to have a queue jump setup.
I think the transit signal with the transit only lights is still in place at 12th so I would expect this to be used.

Will be a good test of if improved transit priority encourages use

^Yep! I noticed the freshly painted "BUS ONLY" markings on the pavement and a whole slew of covered up "No Parking" signs installed and waiting to be uncovered.

I honestly don't remember this being too terrible when the Paseo Bridge broke after people had a couple of weeks to adjust.

On another note, while I doubt very many people would get confused since most 169 traffic is locals and airport users (who would probably mostly use GPS), the poor placement of this detour sign has me imagining clueless people taking this instruction at face value and then angrily honking their horns and shaking their fists while waiting behind the streetcar.

North Loop Overhaul Plan Hits Federal, Wyandotte County Potholes

The city’s ambitious plans to design a new future for the current, awkward bridge and freeway layout on the north side of downtown has hit unexpected blowback from Washington and Wyandotte County.

...

Closer to home, the Unified Government of Wyandotte County and the Kansas DOT oppose a key, long-range concept in the ongoing Beyond the Loop study to either remove the North Loop freeway aka Interstate 70 or replace it with a landscaped boulevard.

...

In objecting to removing or reducing the North Loop, Kansas and WyCo officials expressed “grave concerns” it would hamper interstate access to downtown Kansas City, Kan. and the Fairfax Industrial area.

“The I-70 traffic movement is extremely important to Kansas City, Kan. and Wyandotte County,” County Administrator Doug Bach said in a letter to MARC.

“Unfortunately, some measures of the Remove and Redesignate option increase the travel time over this small segment by over 3 minutes.”

I've been wondering what KCK's feelings would be about eliminating the only interstate freeway access to their downtown. Looks like their opinion is exactly what I expected it would be.

I-70 isn't going anywhere so we should just eliminate an exit or three, narrow the channel, and put a lid on it.

West side of 35 could (and should) still connect into 70 going to kck.

No reason to half ass this.

Has anybody seen any actual work done on the bridge since it was closed? I drive northbound every day around 2:45 and I've never seen any sign of workers, though much of the work may be needed on the underside of the bridge.

Most of the work right now is on the underside of the bridge.
