@davekcmo

Would it be possible to get a “bicycle park and ride” at the UMKC stop? Maybe a few bike racks under a shelter?

I'll do my best! There's already a bike share kiosk across 51st street.

If only a quarter of the 2 million people currently riding the streetcar each year walk from Main to see the museums and the landscaped campus of a working college of art and design, it will change the dynamics of the Rockhill and Southmoreland neighbourhoods.

What lawsuit? DeJanes's lawsuit to stop the streetcar's expansion? Or did somebody finally file a lawsuit about DeJane's use of the ATA's land that I missed?
From the "Streetcar Opposition" thread:

Hint: ATA is suing DeJanes
Long followup.
There's no judgement information but she filed an appeal in Jan 2019. So she clearly lost.

The appeal is case WD82459

At this point KCATA has an extention for their filing until July

So the original petition was filed against her in Jan 2017 and the case is still working it's way through the courts 2.5 years later.

The judge should have never let her waste the courts time in the first place.. especially being that she's an attorney.. but it is what it is. That docket is longer and more drawn out than most legitimate issues. What a waste. Basically Dejanes and her husband illegally and knowingly seized a FORTY FOOT DEEP section of public land and built a new fence around it so they could eventually challenge the ownership of the land in court and take possession of it by basically claiming the "I've squatted for so long that it's mine" exception.. and they nearly won. Lucky their idiot judge did something right, after plenty of errors. Unfortunately they're appealing and will likely abuse the system again to get what they want. Read the ruling that's being appealed here. https://www.courts.mo.gov/fv/c/KCATA+v. ... i=14280198

Adverse possession has a long and controversial history in the courts. However, there has never been a case where adverse possession was granted for public land. It is one of the universally accepted exclusions. Filing this claim, as an attorney, is preposterous and she should face steep court costs and be disbarred.

City Transit Committee - Ordiance 190510:

“City Council intends to finance a streetcar system expansion project in an amount not to exceed $185,000,000.00, establishing the Special Obligation Series 2020B Fund for development costs, accelerates effective date, etc” - my summary

This ordinance provides advance approval for the eventual bond sale for the project. The ordinance also appropriates $9.1million for predevelopment costs. The ordinance also authorizes the execution of new agreements between KCMO, New TDD, And KC Streetcar.

It is expected that approval of this ordinance will push the Federal Funding application forward.

The downtown TDD and expansion TDD both approved resolutions this week that support the above ordinance. This sets the stage for federal funding (which requires that all legislative approves be in place before funds can be awarded).

Now it's up to the Council...

Forgive me if this is a dumb question but is the new mayor Pro Streetcar? Will Phase 2 stay on track under him and the council?

But he will likely be lobbied hard by those who endorsed and contributed to his campaign.

It would be odd for him to suddenly oppose it when (a) the TDD voters approved it by such a wide margin and (b) his voting record on this extension is 100% supportive. In fact, the only reliable no vote on the current council is Hall and she backed Jolie (but she'll probably still vote on anything streetcar).

Per the recently filed “Cooperative Agreement for Streetcar Phase 2”:

“The cost of planning, design, acquisition, and construction of the Phase 2 Line is presently estimated to be approximately $330,000,000 including contingency budget(~33%) as required by FTA.”

“The FTA has allocated appropriate funding for the Phase 2 Capitals Costs in the amount of $163,350,000.”

“Jackson County is considering and may present to voters, at some future date, one or more funding mechanisms for the purpose of designing and constructing a commuter rail system that may terminate or otherwise stop at a location services by the project.... City to try and gain a financial contribution from the county if the county is successful”
