Perhaps it is just included for future use. Later on the report notes:

• Regarding growth in operating revenue assumptions, sales and property tax
revenues are reasonable compared to recent historical experience. The financial
plan assumes no fare revenue because the streetcar system will be free to ride.

Washington transit officials have rated the Kansas City Streetcar Authority’s $151.6 million federal funding application “medium high,” a vital step toward building the planned extension from downtown to UMKC.

Center running streetcar would have allowed us to host streetcar jousting matches. Just wanted to put that out there.

American Century is looking for a tax abatement on renovations (both at their twin towers and the former H&R Block space). They are planning on adding 75 jobs over the next two years.

I wonder if they will ever do anything with all of their lots.

I tried such a thing awhile back. It's a tough walk for most -- 3.5 miles -- and not particularly pleasant. Also, nothing to see yet. Maybe in 2021...

I heard on the radio that the extension wasn't selected to receive federal funds this round. What are next steps?

Wait until next year, or a direct appropriation from Congress (previously known as an earmark). FY20 appropriations are in progress now.

Unlike TIGER, if you don't get funded in one round you don't have to reapply. We're in the pipeline and have a good rating, so it's just a matter of time. Worst case scenario IMO is after Trump leaves office. This year's list of new projects is all BRT.

Any chance Roy comes through on this for us?

This seems like a pretty bad outcome to me. Delayed to the point where we really can't predict transportation trends.

Mixed streetcar is awful to begin with. I think it's getting harder to defend this project.

It's amazing the variation in costs of BRT:
$40+million for new 1.8 mile BRT (plus upgrades to existing line) in Reno
$53+million for new 5.8 mile BRT in Spokane
$26+million for new 16 mile BRT in Albany

Keep fighting for next year! Is there work that we can continue with other money sources that would make for a more quick build when we do get approval?
