Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
Did we do this the first time? I don't know who is in the current board and I know I didn't vote.
Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
the existing TDD board was not elected because that district was formed by the city and portKC. as such, its board is made up of the mayor, chair of portKC board (who was just made a circuit court judge), and two citizens that are also on the streetcar authority board.KCPowercat wrote:Did we do this the first time? since the new TDD board will be elected, that takes the mayor and portKC out of the equation (although the mayor or port board chair could serve if they live in the TDD boundary). as a result, there will be some governance changes to better reflect the larger district and the fact that the board is elected at large.
Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
How worried are we about people trying to hijack this? Are any of the anti folks nominating candidates?
Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
not very, and yes we know that opponents (greg allen) have filed.WoodDraw wrote:How worried are we about people trying to hijack this? Are any of the anti folks nominating candidates?
you'd need to be elected by a district that just voted 70% to move forward.

I think the last election proved that voters are easily duped.DaveKCMO wrote:not very, and yes we know that opponents (greg allen) have filed.WoodDraw wrote:How worried are we about people trying to hijack this? Are any of the anti folks nominating candidates?

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
You can help now by spreading the word that Greg Allen is 100% an opponent of the project and will try to disrupt.

does he know his job as a board mamber is to encourage it's financial success?DaveKCMO wrote:yes. mr. #nopus. he told me in front of a large crowd in west plaza that he has never voted for any transit proposal in 30 years. can't get more opposition than that.chingon wrote:Same Greg Allen from "Historic" KC?
board membership and purposefully trying to tank a project is financial malfeasance. I can't imaging he could possibly get away with that. surely he know how many controls against these kinds of efforts are in place in the post Arthur Anderson world.

Re: Phase 2 streetcar to UMKC
There are many actions he could take that wouldn't involve malfeasance. Just voting no, ask many questions, question decisions made by others, and the list goes on. All legitimate actions an elected official can perform.flyingember wrote:does he know his job as a board mamber is to encourage it's financial success?DaveKCMO wrote:yes. mr. #nopus. he told me in front of a large crowd in west plaza that he has never voted for any transit proposal in 30 years. can't get more opposition than that.chingon wrote:Same Greg Allen from "Historic" KC?
