I've seen them used when there clearly was a big event downtown.

yes. you might see something like what prospect MAX is doing, where the smart kiosks are integrated with the shelter and real-time arrival information (instead of separate LED text display).

They are very profitable and the city wants to keep throwing them up because of that. Hopefully we find an actual use for them...like I don't know an actual pedestrian walking navigation map instead of using Google maps.

If they're used, then good. Personally, I can't imagine anything on there that I couldn't get in my phone without rubbing my hands where 100s of other people have already. Guess that makes me a germphobe.

good oleopathic coatings repel the oils on people's hands. that will cover like 99% of issues

any germs on someone's hands is going to be on door nobs, railings, etc all around and widely distributed and not touching a screen isn't going to change that.

There's germs on the door knobs and railings?!?! That's it, I can't ride the streetcar anymore now.

Yeah I didn't say they were used. They are profitable as they are little billboards when not being interacted with. Most of the time

They have potential. I like the idea of them being all over the city. Like some quasi-dystopic cyberpunk aesthetic. I love it.

Hopefully they have them set up to work as emergency signage in a disaster situation. Active shooter, Alt-left invasion, and whatnot.

I'm getting a post-anarchist cyberpunk hard on right now just thinking about it. Part of me wonders if I just like KC development because I want to live some Blade Runner-esque fantasy here.

Just please, no flying cars. Unless they fly themselves. People driving on roads are enough of a menace to other vehicles, people, and property.

flying cars won't be like BTTF where people are flying themselves.

No insurance company will touch them unless any such tech is fully automated.

sarcasm fails when you make a serious point that isn't one people argue about

seven, all at large. the top seven vote getters win. terms are staggered. first in, first on the ballot. more info: http://kcrta.org/streetcar/
