Ooh, ooh.... did ya hear? Barack called Nancy Reagan on the horn three hours after his first press conference to apologize for the seance remark! Thoughtful!

Fixed.  This economy has been headed for a major downturn since our spending spiraled out of control in the 60's.  Unfortunately this economy will not be fixed (at least not enough to satisfy the people who voted for "change") to get Obama another four years.  Romney 2012.

And so it begins with a keenly analytical, sensical post.

Well, anyone dumb enough to think we can just turn around the economy back to mid-nineties exuberance and frothiness in only a four year term doesn't know a damn thing about economics in the first place, given the severity of this mess or the geopolitics of energy depletion. So I wouldn't worry too much about those people's votes.

And, you underestimate the intelligence of most Obama voters by implying we think he's the veritable quick-fix panacea.

Obama just might have a tough time in 2012.  Had a meeting with an investment manager last Friday.  Predictions for the immediate future do not look good.  The Dow market may rise to 10,000 or 11,000 by year end but then the bottom drops out.  Look for the Dow to drop to maybe 4,000 and stay low for a few years.  Remember, the Dow in 1982 was at the same level it was in 1965.

If the above does occur Obama has to be truthful with the country.  No "in six months to a year things will look better" talk.  If he is truthful then he has a chance to win in 2012.  Promising things will get better shortly, no matter who he brings into the administration and what they do, will bring the roof down on Obama and the Dems.

Now that the economic news is out-of-the-way it looks like Obama will have a bi-partisan cabinet.  If they can agree on Iraq Gates will stay.  If not then Gates will go and a R or two will go to other positions.  From the Sunday news programs there was a concern that too many sitting Dem Senators may be chosen for the posts.  One even had a chance for HRC to be Sec of State.  Diversity, like in Bill Clinton's selection process, for this cabinet will take a back seat to getting the absolute best the future administration can.

Don't look for Buffet and a few other money men to be announced in "official" posts.  Too much financial disclosure.
I may be right.  I may be wrong.  But there is a lot of gray area in-between.

1)  A large portion of voters are dumb

2)  75% of people think Obama will do better than Bush, if the economy doesn't bounce back and we are still bogged down in the Middle East most of these people will view Obama as a blow hard failure.  Moderates/independents in this bunch will vote in 2012 for the Republican option if they run a mainstream candidate such as Romney.

Obama had about 62 million votes????  100% of them do not understand economics, nor do they care about excuses.  They voted Obama because they really believed he would bring immediate change.  If they don't see change at least 10% of these folks will dump Obama.

Wow.  It took 4 posts for this thread to fall apart into partisan bickering.

Any predictions on what will happen in 2012 right now are beyond silly. The economy can go up or down rather drastically it seems in less than a year. I take very little stock in four year economic projections.

Obama to establish Office of Urban Policy

For example, plans are underway to establish a White House Office of Urban Policy in order to better coordinate federal efforts to help America's cities, according to Obama transition co-chair Valerie Jarrett.

"He's going to have a White House chief of urban policy," Jarrett told the Trotter Group, an organization of black columnists.

She declined to divulge any names of potential choices for the post. "I'm sure there are plenty of candidates. It's a great job," Jarrett said.

Not sure who he'll pick, but I am sure that one of them will turn on him and write a tell-all memoir.  It's happened to every President in recent history.  There is money to be made, I guess, in doing this.

Wonder if it'll be Grandpa Joe who turns on him - when he's dropped from the ticket in 2012?

Obama and Biden, along with their family got there code names today.  Obama is Renegade, Michelle is Renaissance, daughters Malia and Sasha are Radiance and Rosebud. Biden's codename is Celtic. I dont know if that's "C" or the "S" pronunciation.  I always say the Boston Keltics instead of Seltics, just out of habit. Biden's wife is Capri.  Does anbody know what Bush's codename is?  If I remember correctly, Clinton's codename was Elvis.

If his wife is Capri, I would imagine that it is a hard C.

what's the point of having codenames if they are known by everyone?
