^ absolutely, this festival has seen a truly astronomic rise in reputation and visibility in the documentary world (in their first year, 2004, they had 4,200 attendants, and by 2009 they had over 23,000), considered one of the best documentary festivals in the country and well worth checking out. Lots of filmmakers coming in through St. Louis and KC on their way to Columbia. Even if it's just for the day, definitely try to score some tickets and see some great documentary films.
KC Region is all part of the same animal regardless of state and county lines.

amazing fest this year. over 37K attendees, a massive increase over 2011. docs to watch in 2012, in order of importance:
