We're getting ready to replace the sidewalk in front of my building, at our own expense. The street has been re-paved so many times that it's now level with the sidewalk in places, and slightly higher in other spots, which means that the sidewalk is under several inches of water during rain storms. The sidewalk is in bad shape, anyway, so it's time to do something about it.
Which city department should I talk to in order to satisfy my curiosity about any possible upcoming road repairs or construction? It'd be a shame to drop new sidewalks in only to have them covered up with yet more asphalt...
Thanks!

Call your councilperson's legislative aide. S/he'll get you to the right folks.

Talk with public works. While at it, ask if they still have the program available whereby the city replaces the sidewalk and bills the cost to you over seven years, by means of a special assessment.
