I think it's one of the few remaining great potential buildings. I want it.

Re: Who owns this building?
Berlau Paper has been in that building since 1904. It was a long-time family-owned business that the Berlau family sold to Dennis Manning about 22 years ago. They specialize in environmentally-friendly paper and related products. It's a small operation, and the upper floors provide storage space for their clients.
The building owner is MCCLUSKEY DARLENE M. according to KivaNet, and it is on the National Register of Historic Places.

That's a really awesome story. I would like to see a better use of this building, but, you can't help but like a family business that has stuck with downtown that long. And it sounds like they make a cool product.

I tried to convince Dennis to convert, or allow the building to be converted into lofts many years ago.shinatoo wrote:That's a really awesome story. In retrospect, I awfully pleased, on several levels, that he continued Berlau as he has.

Re: Who owns this building?
here's how you can figure this out:
http://www.jacksongov.org/content/3271/ ... fault.aspx
Tax search on name or address
Recorded documents search use legal description from tax search, or name of grantee (owner in tax search)
https://www.sos.mo.gov/BusinessEntity/soskb/csearch.asp
secretary of state search for business if not an individual owner, can often find thru resident agent
https://www.courts.mo.gov/casenet/cases ... hType=name
Case.net search for litigation often has contact info, either for owner or thru a lawyer, if there have been any actions filed against this owner.
