Tax Abatements

Post by LindseyLohan »

Does anyone know how to find out about residential tax abatements? Where they are? How long they are? etc.

A guy at work said they are offering anyone in Union Hill property tax abatements for however many years (he wasn't sure) for doing so much renovation (wasn't sure on that either).

I'm basically trying to figure out how I can pin down details on things like this. It would very much help me decide where to look for a house. I've saw a house at 39th and Paseo that had annual taxes of $13 a year, but couldn't find out how long. Same at 20th and Brooklyn, $84 a year.

There has to be some sort of public database. Any help is appreciated.

I wouild imagine someone at EDC (Economic Development Corp.) of Kansas City could help you. Most of those things have to go through the LCRA (Land Clearance for Redevelopment Authority) and EDC is usually the one pushing them.
Bob Long or Joe Egan (both at EDC) should be able to assist you. 816/221-0636.
