succotash is awesome on sunday mornings because there isn't a 45 minute wait like on saturday mornings, and the still-drunk art institute kids can really lavish you with attention - i.e. actually bring your order.

First Watch is pretty good. There's a few locations throughout the metro. It's also very spacious so there typically isn't a long wait.

I don't know about the brunch buffet at the Bristol downtown, but I have been to the one out South, and it was really good, though not so cheap.

Is Jerry's Woodswether open on Sunday's?  I just went for the first time on Saturday and was so glad the smoking ban was in place from what I'd read.  Breakfast was great, in large quantity, and you can't beat the environment for uniqueness.  The waitress told me they sell breakfast through the afternoon on Saturday's only, so if you are looking for some "brunch" in the East coast sense (1PM or later), that may be the place.  Also, one of the owners of the Record Bar said they have a good Sunday brunch (a year or so back), though I wouldn't know if they are still doing it.

I know Bristol downtown is starting to do brunch on the weekends, but I'm not sure if its the same buffet as the one south, which yes, is outstanding (although pricey!)

No.

I went once pre-smoke ban, and it wasn't too bad in the back room, but that room is not nearly so atmospheric as the front.

worth it. the brunch at fooleries is flat out amazing. barton and shelly bloom completely outdo theirselves on their sunday brunch. the bloody mary bar has so much shit on it, shrimp, crabmeat, you name it. same with omelet station, miles of options. then the hot food is out of this world.

definitely check out their sunday brunch, my favorite brunch in the city. have to agree with shina, bentons does an amazing brunch as well, but for me too stuffy. it reeks of old money in there. i like the fooleries crowd better, more laid back.

fooleries in general has some damn good bar and grill food. check it out when you have a chance, a hidden kc treasure. the dump truck sundae is friecken fantastic, as is the instead burger.

I was thinking what a cool place it seemed to be and that I wish we had a place like that in KC. Then they panned out and it was Mama's on 39th! I have never been, but I'll be sure to make it next weekend.
It seems like the Food Channel has been showcasing a lot of KC's restaurants lately. Just last weekend I was flipping through the channels and Road Tasted with the Neely's was in KC checking out a few spots.

Sticking to the subject, I have a male friend who nearly has an orgasm everytime he mentions the breakfast at Eggstc, so it might be worth checking out.

I caught the end of the segment when they were at Fritz's Sausage Company in Leawood, but here's an excerpt from an article on KansasCity.com:

Pat and Gina Neely highlight Kansas City’s best foods according to the show description. Here’s the rest of it:

“At Not Just Desserts, a little TLC goes a long way in the popular Caramel Pecan Poundcake. For a Kansas City-style taste of Italy, it’s homemade ravioli and cream sauce at Cupini’s Fresh Pasta. Chocolate and art lovers will enjoy Christopher Elbow Artisanal Chocolates’ bananas foster truffle, and the smoked bacon from Fritz’s Superior Sausage Company makes an irresistible BLT.”

I know it's past breakfast time already, but the only place I can recommend in that area would be Corner Cafe.
This classic has been around for a while and I've never met a person who didn't like it.

Oh, and you might also try Cracker Barrel, I think they serve a decent breakfast.

Ate at Lydia's yesterday, brunch was pretty good. But the bloody mary's were the absolute best I've ever had, made with heirloom tomato juice. Just thinking about them makes me drool. Arguably the best drink on earth.
